In 2008, Sara Gragnolati discovered she had food allergies. So she decided to take charge when her taste buds were appalled by the gluten-free offerings on the market. She discovered ingredients like quinoa and amaranth and wondered why very few packaged foods took advantage of these versatile and nutrition-packed foods. Thousands of years ago, these energy-inducing super proteins were considered sacred. (True story.) Thus, Cocomama was created.
Cocomama’s first product line—Quinoa Cereal—launched in March 2011. They created it for everyone, whether you follow a restricted diet, hike the mountains or pride yourself on being a food aficionado.
I personally had never tried Quinoa until recently. My daughter, Kendallyn (who is eighteen years-old) was researching the health benefits of Quinoa and we bought some to try out in some recipes she found on Pinterest. I found that I really enjoyed Quinoa. After discovering Cocomama online, I was excited to get the chance to review their cereal.
Cocomama sent me samples of their delicious Quinoa Cereal in Banana Cinnamon, Orange Cranberry, Wild Blueberry and Honey Almond flavors.
Cocomama’s innovative packaging makes it easy to eat healthy on the go. There’s no preparation required—all of the Quinoa Cereals are fully cooked in a nutritious, light coconut milk and sweetened with all natural sweeteners and real fruit. They've done all the work, all you have to do it simply tear open the pouch, stir (heat, if you want it warm) and enjoy as snack or a meal.
My favorite is the Banana Cinnamon! These cereals are absolutely delicious, very satisfying and completely nutritious. It is a breakfast that you can feel good about eating or feeding to your children on school mornings. So convenient and healthful, too.
Also, Cocomama will be introducing their latest new product line called Crunched Out, launching May 6th. Its a snackable cereal that comes in Vanilla Cinnamon and Fudgy Chocolate.

Want to win? One winner will receive 1 full size sample of each of Cocomama's six products. Retail value: $28.

I ALWAYS buy tricolor quinoa because it has a really nutty flavor and texture. That said, I'll just eat 'er plain! It pairs extremely well with ground turkey also. Or black beans. Or everything.
It's hard to pick a favorite but I use it most often in vegan chili. (-:
