My Toddler is Cussing

My little boy who is two and a half years old has been saying some really bad words that he has picked up from here and there, unfortunately. I have tried everything to get him to stop, including hot sauce on his tongue (and he has developed a liking for spicy things.) He'll even go to the refrigerator and say, 'I want hot sauce.'
I have tried ignoring his bad words, but that does not make him stop.
I had to spank his little bottom today, and that just made him say worse things, including, 'I hate you Mommy.'
Braxton has had enough sleep, enough attention, enough love.............so what is it that makes him have these 'rotten streaks?' It almost makes me feel that all of my nuturing toward him has been wasteful, because he turns out to be such a little devil, despite my best efforts.
Arrrrrrhghhhhhhhhhh!
I have not even had a single beauty minute to myself lately. Geesh. I may as well just try to give up on myself and be hairy, wrinkled and haggy looking like nature intended!
