There’s nothing more heartwarming than watching your child’s eyes light up when they spot their favorite Disney Characters. Disney on Ice came to my hometown this past weekend, in Portland, Oregon at the Moda Center. I was so excited to take my darling one year-old granddaughter, my two year-old niece and my six year-old nephew to witness the magic unfold. I also brought my brother, sister-in-law, my oldest son and daughter-in-law, who are all just like little children when it comes to Disney! (Aren’t we all?) What an unforgettable fun-filled family event! Plenty of cherished memories were made.
Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party is a brand-new immersive ice skating experience that brings the magic closer to fans than ever before through engaging elements that take place on the ice, in the air and in the seats. An exciting participatory adventure delivering compelling storytelling through multi-leveled production numbers that immerse fans into the fantastic worlds of Disney-Pixar’s Coco, Frozen, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid.
We got to meet Tinkerbell before the show! My granddaughter, Reylin wasn’t too sure about Tink- she was on the lookout for Minnie Mouse!
My niece, Ivy and nephew, Wesley were thrilled to meet Tinkerbell!
These two cuties were ready for the show to begin!
Oh, the anticipation!
And finally, the show begins!
Oh, the excitement!
Somebody is thrilled by the sights of her favorite characters!
What is up there? So much to look at!
Every detail was perfect!
Each setting was exquisite!
There is Moana!
Mickey and the Gang!
Toy Story!
Priceless Moments…….
The entire show was spectacular, and was done to Disney perfection. I expect nothing less from Disney. It was so much fun to watch the little ones as they watched the talent cascading effortlessly on the ice, as the stories unfolded.
The story featured Mickey Mouse and pals as they followed Captain Hook’s treasure map to look for clues to find Tinker Bell after he attempts to capture her magic. The journey led across the Marigold Bridge with Miguel from Disney-Pixar’s Coco. And then into the magnificent and mystical Land of the Dead to discover a vibrantly colorful performance with skeletons atop sway poles dancing over the audience in a beautiful cultural celebration of family. It was amazing watching the actors swaying in the air. I wondered how they were able to do that without falling!
And then on to the wintry world of Arendelle to sing along with Elsa as a video projection created a beautiful kaleidoscope of crystals to help build her ice palace. We watched Belle magically lift into the sky as the enchanted chandelier came to life high over the ice for onlookers seated above and below.
The audience roared with laughter as Captain Hook’s hilarious pirates flipped, tumbled, and twisted through the air, and performed on stilts. (That really was amazing to watch those talented actors performing those stunts.)
The children especially loved Moana on her daring voyage across the ocean and bravely encounter the fiery wrath of Te Ka.
And then there were characters Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid, which mesmerized the little ones. (As well as their parents!) I am simply blown away by the absolute astounding performances, the music and the story lines.
The Disney on Ice show is unsurpassed in quality and is everything you would ever expect from Disney. My granddaughter, niece and nephew watched the entire show (which was approximately 90 minutes) and were completely mesmerized throughout the show. From start to finish, it was completely magical. If you get the chance to attend Disney on Ice, you will not be disappointed!
