A Family, Beauty, Health and Lifestyle Blog
I cannot stress enough how important a good night's sleep is! As a working mom with a little one who still shares our bed it's become even more apparent that good sleep isn't an option, it's a necessity whenever we can get it! I want my home to be an oasis where my family can relax after a long day and always feel comfortable and safe. I've been hunting for the best products to make my bedroom especially relaxing so that I can soak up some rest!
I was excited to try California Design Den sheets for their high quality and lasting materials. Another thing I really appreciated about this company was their assurance of fair collaboration with their factory in India.
Nobody can deny that the first night's sleep with clean sheets is the BEST feeling! It makes me feel like my life is a little less chaotic! When we climbed into bed my husband instantly said ‘I feel like we're at a luxury hotel.’ And I totally agree!
These white sheets are completely luxury. They were also perfect for our hot-blooded little one-year- old co-sleeper because they kept her the perfect temperature, a little cooler. I could not have asked for better sheets to help her sleep through the night without sweating!
California Design Den produces their sheets with the same premium quality as the world’s top bedding brands at a value you won’t find anywhere else. I can tell that the material used is made of the highest quality material, and will last for years to come, which is relief!
If you're like me, you love a good deal and you love to stock up on the things you love and will use. Which is why the price of these sheets is a great deal and a perfect opportunity to buy multiple high quality products for the price of something cheaper another store. I highly recommend my luxury sheets and can't wait to crawl into bed and SLEEP like my baby!

Do you find yourself waking up in the morning and feeling you need to go back to sleep for a few more hours? Getting a good night’s sleep is important for your health and wellbeing, but so many of us don’t get what we need. The recommended amount is between 7 and 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep. If you regularly manage only 4 or 5, have you thought it might be your diet that’s keeping you awake at night? There are a number of different ways you can improve your sleep patterns, and changing your diet is one of them.
The Best Foods to Eat Before You go to Sleep
- Almonds – contain melatonin, a sleep-regulating hormone
- Turkey – contains the amino acid tryptophan which increases the production of melatonin
- Chamomile tea – contains apigenin which is an antioxidant that binds to receptors that promote sleep and reduce insomnia
- Tart cherry juice – contains high amounts of melatonin
- White rice – it has a high glycemic index that may help improve sleep quality
- Kiwi fruit – contain serotonin, a chemical that regulates your sleep cycle
- Fatty fish – contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D which increase the production of serotonin
- Walnuts – a great source of melatonin
- Passionflower tea – its calming properties may promote sleepiness
A number of other foods are thought to have sleep-promoting properties, but little research has been done as to their effectiveness. These include milk, cottage cheese, bananas and oatmeal.
Other Ways to Improve Your Sleep Patterns
Enjoying a healthy sleep pattern can have an enormous effect on your health. There are a number of things you can do to improve your sleep habits. For example, sticking to the same sleep schedule helps you to regulate your body clock. A relaxing bedtime ritual will also be very beneficial. If you’re in the habit of taking naps during the day, you might find it easier to fall asleep at bedtime if you cut these out. Sleeping on a comfortable mattress will also make a big difference. You want a mattress that is supportive. Serta Posturepedic is a very popular brand at the moment. The environment that you sleep in should be cool, preferably between 60 and 67 degrees, as well as being free from any noise and light. If there is little you can do to cut these levels, possibly because your partner is a snorer, try ear plugs, eye shades, and blackout curtains. It has also been shown that regular exercise, preferably vigorous, can have a profound effect on your sleep patterns.
There are a number of myths associated with getting a good night’s sleep. For example, many people consider it beneficial to fall asleep with the TV playing in the background. This can, in fact, be very detrimental as can blue light from electronic devices such as mobile phones.
Without a good night’s sleep, we really don’t function very well. There are people who can perform normally on just four or five hours sleep, but the majority of us need much more. Sleep problems affects millions of people on a regular basis but changing your diet can make a big difference.
There's nothing worse than sleepless nights. I hate it when I can't fall asleep. Sometimes I will lay in bed waiting for the sweet release of slumber that never arrives. In the past, I have taken prescription sleeping medication to combat my insomnia, but I became addicted to it, and that was a very difficult thing to overcome.
Thankfully, I have discovered Vicks new ZzzQuil PURE Zzzs Melatonin Gummies, and PURE Zzzs Soothing Aromatherapy Balm!
Vicks new ZzzQuil PURE Zzzs Melatonin Gummies are designed with a unique blend of Melatonin and botanicals like Lavender, Chamomile, Valerian Root, and Lemon Balm. They taste really good, and have just enough melatonin to help me to fall asleep and to wake up refreshed. They really work! I can even give them to my 11 year old son when he is having trouble getting sleepy at night.
PURE Zzzs Soothing Aromatherapy Balm helps me wind down and relax with the aromatic scent of lavender and chamomile essential oils. Plus, it’s made with aloe leaf extract and coconut oil leaving my skin moisturized. I apply this balm to my chest every night at bed time and it works really well to soothe my frequently frazzled nerves. It helps me to achieve a deep slumber. Again, I also use this on my son. I have noticed that it helps to keep him from tossing and turning all night long. (I know this because he often sleeps in our bed with us!)

Getting a good night’s sleep also depends on how you treat the inside of your body. Here are some tips suggested by Sophia Ruan Gushee, author of A to Z of D-Toxing: The Ultimate Guide to Reducing Our Toxic Exposures, on how to get your healthiest sleep.
1. Develop a routine: Sticking to a schedule will help you fall asleep faster.
2. Detox your bedroom: Turn WiFi and other devices off at night. If you can’t, then create as much distance as possible from WiFi routers and turn WiFi devices to airplane mode. Crack the windows open to allow toxic fumes to escape.
3. Avoid technology before bedtime: Turn off your TV or computer a few hours before sleeping as the blue light emitted from video displays can confuse your body clock and keep you awake.
