A Family, Beauty, Health and Lifestyle Blog
Have I told you guys how much I love Nursememama yet? Because I seriously do. I’m not lying about that title either, I really believe that their nursing bras are the best. I first reviewed this company's invention, Busy Tabs a few months ago, (which you can read about here) that are truly a game changer.
Since then, the founder of NurseMeMama has been doing all sorts of stuff to promote and encourage breastfeeding (because it’s not easy and if someone tells you that it is, chances are they’ve had at least a LITTLE struggle somewhere in there). I love that this brand is so supportive and lighthearted on their social media but keeps the conversation going because we NEED to talk about these things and support each other!! Seriously, any product that makes this whole momming-business easier is SO worth it.
I was really excited to hear that this company keeps coming out with more products and SUPER excited to hear that next up was a nursing bra! But, this is no ordinary nursing bra. This bra caters especially to newborn babies because when they’re fresh into the world, their eyesight kind of sucks. I didn’t really know about this until I had Rey and it made total sense. At an early age she did, however, become really interested in patterns. This is exactly the thought behind the Visy Bra - give the baby something up close, right in front of their face to focus on and suddenly their latch becomes better, so they eat better, they are entertained and the experience is easier on momma, too. GENIUS and it really works!
Besides the science behind the bras, these are also the most comfortable bra I’ve tried - nursing or not. The traditional nursing bra is a lot like a regular bra but with the little clip that you can use to pull down the cup, which is fine… but isn’t really comfortable and to be honest, when you’re in a pinch and baby is fussing and you’re in public not really that functional.
I like the Visy Bra’s design because you simply just pull the boob out far enough for baby to nurse and if you need to you can pull it really far out - but if you don't, you can have a little more privacy. Also, that fabric panel with all the cool patterns for baby on it actually gives you more coverage (and makes you look a little less like your nip is hanging out in front of your family members).
This bra is a racer back and I’ve found myself sleeping in it a lot because it is SO easy to dream feed in and has minimal seams so it’s super comfy. Have I mentioned this is the most comfortable bra ever? IT IS, OKAY!? If you don’t believe me I highly recommend you buy one and try prove me wrong. Or if you agree then you should just buy one and be forever comfortable. I’ve also found myself wearing this bra a lot during the day because it provides the coverage I need, is surprisingly really supportive for a fabric bra and let's face it, I don’t have many outfits that I can’t wear a racerback bra with these days.
I’ve even found myself wearing it to work, which is how I discovered an extra bonus to these bad boys - that same fabric panel for baby’s attention actually works geniously to hold my suction cups on my breast pump. YEP - this super comfortable nursing bra does it all. So let’s recap - buy this bra to help baby stay focused and therefore gets him/her a better latch, keeps you comfortable all day long, is perfect to sleep in/easy access for night feedings AND you can even wear it while pumping.
One last note on this bra, my boobs have changed A LOT in size from pre-baby to pregnancy and that fun engorgement stage to post-baby nad nursing. I still honestly don’t know my true bra size at the moment but I am small around and big in the bust so I didn’t know how that would work out on me. After talking to the super friendly and helpful customer service team I ended up getting a medium and it fits so good! So if you’re worried about size don’t be afraid to reach out.
I love my VISY nursing bras!
I definitely recommend this nursing bra and would love all new mamas to try them out - seriously, put this in your hospital bag or buy your friends one for their baby showers and you will be their forever favorite.

Nowadays breastfeeding is seen as being an option for mothers, maybe even a preference. However, reality wasn’t always so lenient and convenient for moms-to-be, as not too long ago in history you absolutely had to breastfeed your baby to ensure their survival. Baby formula was originally invented to supplement baby diets and help babies who were having trouble digesting their mother’s breastmilk. However, over the years the industry ballooned, and a huge percentage of mothers began relying solely on formula as a complete substitute for breastfeeding, simply because it’s easier. With that said, here are 3 reasons why every mom should at least try to breastfeed their babies for a significant amount of time:
1.Helping Your Baby Grow Faster
The first and most obvious benefit of breastfeeding your baby is that they’ll have access to additional nutrients that will help them develop faster. As you’d expect, development is a key issue to focus on and one of the most discussed aspects of pregnancy/baby care mentioned on blogs like Preg Med (view site). The mother’s body actually adjusts the constituents of the breastmilk as the baby ages to accommodate for their changing nutritional needs as they grow, so it really is a fine-tuned nutritious drink that has taken millions of years for nature to perfect.
2.Building Their Immune System to Protect them from Disease
Breastfeeding not only makes your baby bigger, it also makes them healthier by giving them crucial antibodies that protect them from pathogens later in life. It’s an indisputable scientific fact that the vast majority of babies who are breastfed wind up getting sick less, not only as a baby but also as a toddler and all the way through into adulthood. The first round of breastmilk the body makes after the baby is born is called colostrum and contains a particularly high number of antibodies to protect the newborn from infection, which is perhaps the most important reason why every mom should give their very best effort to breastfeed as much as possible in the first few weeks of a baby’s life and beyond.
3.Making Your Child Smarter
Last but certainly not least, breastfeeding your baby gives them a huge boost in brain development. In fact, there’s extensive evidence that shows babies who are breastfed go on to have higher IQ ratings and test scores later in life, so the increase in intelligence tangibly carries through to adulthood. Thus, breastfeeding your child can have a tremendous positive impact on their ability to lead a fulfilling, enjoyable, and successful life.
When Should You Stop Breastfeeding?
In general, most pediatricians recommend that you breastfeed your baby until they’re at least 2 years old, at which point you can start weaning. However, many moms choose to continue breastfeeding their toddlers for additional health benefits. Your breasts will continue to produce milk for many years as long as you continue to breastfeed. In fact, some moms breastfeed they’re kids all the way past age 5, but generally if you can do it for the first 2 years you will have done a great job.
Being a mommy is such an incredible experience. It’s also incredible to me how my body was able to grow our sweet little one, give birth and be able to feed her and help her continue to grow outside her womb. It’s a beautiful, sometimes scary and insanely personal process and we’re never really the same afterwards.
Physically, our bodies are more beautiful after birth. After all, the stretch marks, extra skin and unfading linea nigra line are all proof that we were able to create this gorgeous little human. But sometimes, it doesn’t always feel like it as our ‘before’ pictures can sometimes be more of our bikini body ideal and our ‘after’ can make us forget how incredible we are for what we’ve went through.
When it comes to looking the mirror post baby, we’re often harder on ourselves than we should be. It doesn’t help that our clothing options after baby aren’t very flattering and can make you feel anything but sexy, especially when it comes to the most vital item - your new nursing bra.
This absolutely does NOT have to be the case any more, however, because Oh La Lari’s nursing bralettes not only hear the need for comfortable, functional bralettes - they also have created a gorgeous, sexy bralette for new moms and mom’s to be!
I had to try one of these bras for myself and was so happy I did. They got it right, down to the packaging. These super soft, versatile, beautifully lacy bralettes instantly made me feel less like a milk machine and more like a sexy wife. At a time when body confidence can be at an all time low, it’s important to still take care of yourself and make yourself feel stronger as a woman.
This nursing bra makes looking in a mirror more flattering and helps show off one of the best post-baby body gifts besides baby (those awesome boobs)!! It’s also important to keep up your relationship and intimacy with your partner which can be the last thing on your mind when you’ve been running around changing blowouts and putting another load of ‘spit up’ clothes in the wash. It’s nice to have a company with products that understands the struggle and a bra that reminds you to take some time for yourself and your partner.
Oh La Lari was created by a mom herself whose goal is to promote self love and help women stay in touch with their pre-baby life, encouraging us to feel sexy and providing bras that are easy to nurse in and easy to love. This would be an awesome bralette to buy in pregnancy, too to make you feel a little more womanly when you can no longer see your toes! Be sure to add it to your registry, which is easy to do since they’re partnered with Babylist.com, or buy one or two for your friend’s baby shower! They will definitely be thanking you!!

When you’re pregnant you get advice and opinions about everything, which if you’re new to this whole thing like me, is generally pretty helpful. However, some things you just can’t really take advice on because you have to have baby here to guide you. One of the huge things on that list is bottles. People shared with me their babies preferences, some saying their baby would ONLY take a certain brand or nipple type. For some it was very difficult to transition from nursing to bottles and some babies handled it just fine. The problem is, every baby is different and I had no idea how our little Reylin would feel about bottles until she got here!
We tried bottle feeding pretty early on (but not too early because we were worried about nipple confusion) and she took to it right away! We were very surprised and happy and her grandparents and uncle LOVED feeding her, and it was adorable to watch (and honestly a little bit nice to have a break). I have been so lucky to exclusively breastfeed so far with baby but knowing that she would actually take the bottle was still a huge relief. At first I was trying basic bottles and the ones that came with my breast pump which worked good but we're definitely missing something...and we wanted better than good. I didn’t like how how hard and unfriendly these bottles seemed and I wanted to find something that felt a little more natural for baby.
I came across Comotomo and immediately loved their design. Their bottles are made to simulate natural breastfeeding. Their hygienic silicone bottles are soft, squeezable, free from any chemicals and so much more friendly for little baby hands. They also keep mom in mind - these bottles are SO easy to clean and take apart, yet they are absolutely leak free. The other plus? These bottles are so cute and instagrammable! I always call my baby cute but I didn’t think I’d say that about a bottle itself and here I am! These bottles are truly better than good and I will definitely be sticking with them.
I will be returning to work this month and while it will be emotional for me and baby, I am grateful that she will be in daddy’s loving arms during the day. I am also grateful that if she can’t be nursing, she can be using Comotomo’s bottles filled with breast milk which really is the next best thing.
While I know it’s difficult to know which bottle baby will want until he/she is here, I must say that Comotomo really put a lot of thought into this design and hit all of the marks that a baby’s missing from other bottle brands. This bottle is designed to ease the breast to bottle transition and I would highly recommend trying this one specifically with your babe first!

Keeping Baby Busy while Nursing with Busy Tabs!
by Cassidy Newton
When I was little (probably around 7 years old), someone let me hold their cute little baby at church. I was so careful holding the little baby’s head just so and made sure that she was safe. However, I had long blonde hair that this cute little infant immediately gripped with the strength of a bodybuilder. I didn’t know how to react and my mom and the babies mom were busy talking away and didn’t seem to notice. I let this baby yank on my hair for a good five minutes because I didn’t want to move my arm in fear of dropping her. I was scared of an infant. Of course the mom attended to her babe after awhile and carefully untangled the baby’s tiny little fingers and whisked her away unfazed. I, on the other hand would quickly refuse to hold any new, cute, adorable incredibly strong little cuties for the next few years until my fear subsided. Silly, I know, but I was genuinely in fear of babies and their hair pulling strength!!
Flash forward to now with my 3 month old, my fear is gone and she too has pulled my hair with incredible force. Of course I’m not afraid of our cute little pudgy girl but the hair pulling wasn’t my favorite. She especially likes to grab a nice handful while she is nursing and pull in it until she is full. Of course I could put my hair up while nursing but honestly, when baby’s gotta eat sometimes you don’t even have time to think about that! While talking to other moms about this they told me horror stories of babies nursing habits (one boob for nursing, one for twisting) and I wasn’t thrilled with that idea one bit!!
I’m always looking for products to make life with our sweet new baby easier and was happy to come across NurseMeMama’s instagram page where I saw their BusyTabs. While looking through the pictures and website I realized how genius this idea was and how awesome it could work for my little girl’s hair pulling obsession! I was so excited to try these!
The concept is simple, you just clip the tabs to your bra or shirt and forget about it! Then, when baby is ready to nurse they have something to play with while they’re latched. Not only does this product keep them entertained and give them something easy to tug on, it also encourages longer/better latches which is great for breastfeeding mommas.
My daughter and I also love the cute patterns on the tabs themselves. My three month old is very visual right now and loves looking at patterns so these definitely caught and held her attention. I even tried clipping the tab on her blanket and she loved reaching for it and using her little fingers to feel the soft ribbon. The clips are strong enough that you don’t have to worry about baby pulling it off and it works great to just leave the clips on all day so they’re ready to go when baby’s ready to nurse!
This would make a great addition to your baby ‘want’ list, a perfect gift for a new mom or just a great buy for those that want to keep baby focused on breastfeeding instead of hair pulling.
Thank you NurseMeMama for coming up with this awesome concept and product! This company not only offers this awesome product but is also a great resource for breastfeeding support, tips and tricks!

When you become a pregnant with a precious little life, your body no longer belongs just to you. Your body is a temple and you are sharing that temple with the tiny human you are growing. It is up to you, Mama, to protect and nurture that special little person who is trusting you to grow his or her body. You must not only nourish your body with healthful foods, but that you also make sure to use products that are safe for pregnancy!
You need to steer clear of anything that contains harmful chemicals. This also important during breastfeeding. Any product that you use on your skin can be transferred to your baby through breastfeeding.
Being a Mama is hard work! And you DO sweat, and you DO get smelly, and it is nice to find products to help you to smell fresh.
However, please be aware that the chemicals in your deodorant can get into your breast milk. After all, your underarms are in very close proximity to your breast tissue!
Thankfully, Earth Mama Deodorants are formulated to be safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. AND they come in a cute set of four minis!
Earth Mama’s mini deodorants give you four flavors in one box! They are also travel-savvy and very cute. Pop one in your purse, the diaper bag, your gym bag or stuff ‘em in stockings with a falala – they are just that good. You get all four flavors in one fun-filled box! Refreshing ginger-lime GingerAid Deodorant, tangerine-y Bright Citrus Deodorant, naturally unscented Natural Non-Scents Deodorant, and fresh, soothing Calming Lavender Deodorant.
Think you're too sensitive for natural deodorants with baking soda? You got another think comin’! This formula was made for extra sensitive skin with the perfect balance of baking soda and magnesium. Just enough to work, not enough to hurt sensitive skin. NO propylene glycol, artificial fragrance, parabens or aluminum. Dermatologist tested and clinically tested for irritation. Better than natural – organic!
Your skin soaks it all in.
So toxic ingredients in deodorant?
That’s a hard no.
- Wash underarms well, dry thoroughly, apply your new favorite deodorant.
- Formulated especially for sensitive skin, pregnancy, breastfeeding and YOU!
- NO artificial fragrance (or natural fragrance, or botanical fragrance, in fact NO F word at all! Just organic essential oils that smell great.)
- NO propylene glycol, artificial fragrance, parabens or aluminum
- Dermatologist tested and clinically tested for irritation
- Better than natural – organic! NSF/ANSI 305 certified by Oregon Tilth in fact.
- #LoveYourLymphNodes #NoFword
All of my babies were breastfed, and thankfully, my daughter is breastfeeding her baby who was born last month. Yes, baby Reylin is my first grand daughter. We are so blessed!
My daughter, Cassidy, is a wonderful mother. She is using Earth Mama’s deodorants to stay fresh. Cassidy says that she loves them. They keep her feeling fresh. She is thankful for that, because sometimes new mamas don't get a lot of time for regular showers. Each fragrance is uplifting and helps keep baby blues at bay, and the formulas do not irritate her sensitive skin. With these four minis, it is very convenient to have one in the bathroom, one in the diaper bag, one in the car and one in her purse. (Mommies sweat a lot.)
Best of all, using Earth Mama's deodorant gives Cass one less thing to worry about, so that she has more time to focus on her sweet baby girl.
No chemicals for this precious angel!

Sometimes I get utterly sick of my cleavage trying to 'peek' out of my shirts and get a look at the world. Believe me, I DO NOT wish these boobies on anyone so I fight the potential sight of my cleavage showing tooth and nail. And with everything fashionable out there, most women's tops are meant to 'show off' her stuff. Nope, those days are behind me:) Unless, of course I get myself a 'liftie.' Let's just say, breastfeeding four kids has left me um........deflated.
Thankfully, I found a company online who have created a much needed solution for women like myself.
What is Chickies Cleavage Coveage all about?
from their website:
'Chickies is a product that will change how women layer their clothes forever. Chickies are meant to be worn over any bra with two straps and wrap smoothly around your back for a secure feel. Whether a standard, halter, racerback or nursing bra...Chickies make the latest fashions possible with a little bit of modesty.'
I was sent a black Chickies Cleavage Cover, and immediately put it to great use. It was very easy to use, not at all complicated, which was a plus for me. All I had to do was slip it on like a sports bra and snap the tiny buttons around the bra I already had on to secure it. So awesome that it can be worn on top of the bra I wear. I was so thrilled that I could actually lean forward without scaring anyone!
Look: This is the same model of Chickies I was sent, but unfortunately, that woman is not me:( I certainly wish I looked like that! Maybe some day!
They come in many great colors and fabrics. From sporty to sexy! Check them out here!
Chickies holiday colors and styles will be the perfect fashion accessory for all your party ensembles that need a little extra coverage. Look for new styles and colors like shimmers in gold and silver, sexy lace tanks and more.
Disclosure: I recieved a sample of this product and these opinions are my own.
I have a headache. All I have been wanting to do this evening is sleep. I sent my husband shopping for the birthday cake and gifts for my little Braxton who turns three tomorrow. Oh my sweet baby!!!! It seems only yesterday that I concieved him without knowing it.
And yes, he still breastfeeds! I don't know how that will ever end. Sometimes it gets to be overwhelming when he wants to do it all day long, or all night long......but other than that it is the most precious time in our lives. I don't want to let go of it, Braxton does not want to let go of it. And if it will get him through yet another flu season, then that is very well worth it to me. He has hardly ever been sick and has NEVER vomited. Breastfeeding is a personal choice and other than our boy hogging up our queen sized bed, it is a bond that I love having with my sweet 'baby' boy. He will grow up much to quickly and I will miss feeling his downy soft baby hair caressing my lips and cheeks as he nuses. I had better stop typing this now, because the thought of him growing up is gonna make me cry.
It is a lovely evening here in Estacada. My husband is outside in our gorgeous back yard playing or I should say practicing golf. It is soooo nice to have a property big enough for that. My eldest son, Jonathan isn't that interested in golf, so he was just out there hanging with his Dad. My daughters have been enjoying climbing trees and picking the newly ripening cherries. I am so glad they still enjoy playing outside.
Poor little Braxton is asleep in my arms, which is peaceful to me, as he has been sick with a cough, runny nose and fever for about 48 hours and has been so very clingy. When he is sick, he only wants his mama. It is an honor to be his mommy and to be 'wanted' like this because they do grow up and soon, he won't want me at all.
This poor kid has diarreah, too. Sitting in his diaper as we speak, but he is sleeping and I need this peaceful moment although it reeks, but I have been unable to use the internet to catch up on my Mommy Blog for a few days. Plus Braxton has huge tantrums when I change his diaper, so I will wait a bit longer. He needs to sleep. He is still nursing and seems to only want my nipple in his mouth for comfort when he is ill. I have soooo much milk, and I am pretty happy that I can nourish him, especially when he will not touch food. My milk comes in every hour or so, so my shirt will be wet with the telltale signs of two damp spots if I go too long. This especially gets embarrassing for me in stores, so I am constantly pushing on my breats to stop the 'gushes' in public and I am certain it looks as though I am fondling myself at times.
Boy, Braxton is stinky, but I love this special little boy and I will see him through his sickness...no matter what it takes.
