Wow. After a very windy night, the power went out briefly this morning at 3am, but turned back on by 5:50am, just in time for our kids to get ready for school. After they caught the bus, I went back to bed and dozed off until 9am when the phone rang. My 7th grader, Myelie was calling for me to pick her up at school, as she had a migrane. I looked out the window and was almost blown away. There was a quarter of an inch of snow on the ground and it was coming down steady. I was terrified to drive in the snow, because I had an accident driving in it a year ago. So, I got my little Braxton out of bed and bundled him up, and kicked that truck of mine into four wheel drive. I started to slide sideways coming down our hill, but thakfully I was able to control it. I crept into town at 20mph and decided to pick up my high school kids as well as Myelie and I am utterly glad that I did, because seven hours later the snow is still coming down hard and not relenting. It turns out they cancelled school after all at 11:45 am.
So, my children are really digging this snow day. Three of my oldest son's band members came to huddle in the basement playing not music, but video games. They are outside right now, however, sledding and snowboarding down the hills. It's funny, my little Braxton just wants to be with the 'big guys.' He is following them around and hanging out with them (although they aren't too happy about it, but that's just how it is.)
Snow was not in the forecast, so this is really unusual weather. My kids are definitely keeping their fingers crossed for another snow day tomorrow. Personally, I love snow. Spring is nice, but I will take snow over rain any day.
