Being a busy mom can be exhausting! It’s hard enough to manage the kids, let alone think about exercising, when all you want to do is collapse, exhausted on the sofa at the end of a stressful day!
Rest assured, we understand.
This article will give you some great tips on how to stay fit whilst continuing to be supermom!
Exercise With the Kids!
On the weekends, why not spend the time you would be looking after the kids exercising with them? A sport like tennis, for instance, is played by families all over the world! It’s a great way to have loads of fun and build your family bonds, whilst also keeping super fit! You could also play soccer in the park, have a game of badminton at your local sports center or go out running together. Sport has never been more accessible – there’s so many opportunities out there to get involved with it as a family.
Exercise On the Go
As a full-time supermom you are constantly on the go! Whether that be picking the kids up from their after-school classes or doing the shopping, you’re always doing something. Wherever you are though, you can try this workout 3-4 times a week, as all you need is yourself and a tiny bit of space!
The Workout
Warm up with 2 mins of gentle jogging on the spot
30 seconds of fast, high knees
30 seconds rest
15 squat jumps
30 seconds rest
15 burpees
30 seconds rest
15 press ups (on hands or knees)
Perform 3 sets of this routine with 3 mins of rest between the sets. It doesn’t take up a lot of time at all, and even better, you can do it anywhere in the world!
Create a Mini Home Gym!
If you enjoy the gym, but just struggle to find the time to go, why not build your own at home? This doesn’t have to be expensive either. Just focus on the main items that you need.
For instance, some kind of cardio machine would be useful. This could be either a home bike, a treadmill or even a rowing machine. Contrary to popular belief, you can pick some of these items up surprisingly cheaply online. Also, don’t worry about delivery, either or “fitting it through the door”. Often these items will arrive in parts, so you can assemble them yourself inside the room.
You might also want to consider a barbell, with additional weights, for exercises like squats for your legs and pressing movements, to target your shoulders and chest.
Dumbells are a great choice too! These are particularly popular pieces of equipment that you can work almost any kind of muscle group with! Hold them in your hands and perform lunges, squats and calf raises to keep your legs toned. They’re even more commonly used for the upper body, however, so they’ll give you a fantastic arm workout! Try performing shoulder raises, bicep curls and the chess presses.
As with any form of exercise, be sure to perform a good warm up before starting any weight training and also do a 5 minute cool down at the end of the session to aid recovery.
