A child’s skin is healthier and softer than adults’ skin and it is crucial to take good care of it. Everything we do to help them keep their skin nourished when young, will certainly have benefits and effects as they grow up. That is why it is important to provide your kids with a proper skincare routine, but you have to be careful with the ingredients. There are some lifestyle changes and mild products that can help preserve their skin and keep it healthy and nourished. So, let’s see how you can do that.
Healthy Diet
You probably already take good care of your child’s diet, but it never hurts to add more healthy ingredients. What is more, sometimes parents get more lenient with what their kids eat, and you may not even notice that you are allowing them to eat too much junk food. Not only can this impact their health in a negative way, but their skin may suffer, too. That is why you should try and stick to balanced meals that include both meats and fresh greens. Also, think about including more raw fruits and fruit juices, as well as some cereals in their diet, too. These are filled with antioxidants and they will neutralize the free radicals and minimize any skin damage and nourish the skin of your child.
Mild and Herbal Cosmetics
Since your child’s skin and hair are sensitive, you have to make sure not to use too harsh hygiene products on them. When buying soaps and shampoos, make sure they are mild, chemical-free, or even look for some herbal formulas. Always stay away from brands “for adults” because they are not as mild since our skin is not that sensitive.
When it comes to moisturizing, the same rules apply here. Don’t use oils, creams, and other products that are too harsh. The safest way is going for herbal products that can moisturize your child’s skin and still keep it young and healthy. A good example is an aloe vera gel since this plant is a natural moisturizer, and you will keep your child’s skin nourished with nutrients and hydrated.
Encourage Personal Hygiene
A big part of a beauty routine for your kids is to teach them to stay clean and healthy. That is why you should start teaching your kids, from an early age, how important personal hygiene is, and how to take care of themselves. While they are young, they will soak up that knowledge and always know how to take care of their bodies.
Trim their nails and try and teach them why that is important, teach them to wash their hands regularly, how to properly rinse their faces when coming from outside, and so on. This will help you keep them healthy, avoid blemishes on their skin or even rashes, and they will establish a nice and clean routine from an early age. And when they get older, you can explain to them why this is important and which products are great for their skin.
Get Them Outside
It is a well-known fact that we need vitamin D to essential for our health, and it is especially vital for kids to grow into healthy adults. Lack of this vitamin can cause rickets, seizures, difficulty in breathing, and muscle cramps, and it can affect the complexion of a child’s skin. So, the easiest and healthiest way to provide your child with enough vitamin D is to spend a lot of time with them outside. Allow them to be out in the sun for at least an hour a day, but make sure to avoid hours between 12 and 4:30 pm since the sun shines the harshest then.
Also, make sure to apply sunscreen on their young little skin so they won’t suffer any UV damage. However, choose mild sunscreen, made for kids, in order to avoid applying too many chemicals on their sensitive skin.
Beauty Sleep
We all know that as adults we love our beauty sleep since it helps us preserve our skin’s health. The same applies to kids. Even though getting kids to go to bed early is sometimes hard, with this they can get enough sleep to stay healthy, grow strong, and have nourished skin. You can try and fill their day with great and fun activities so they would tire out, but don’t overdo it. And when they go to sleep, their mind and bodies will recover from the activities, production of growth hormones will be normal and they will wake up fresh, vibrant, and healthy.
You are probably already taking good care of your child and these are just some tips that can help you both improve your lives. If you teach your kids to take care of their skin early on, they will adopt that routine and have amazing skin as they grow up.
