Usually people save their home improvements for springtime. Not, me. My favorite time for home improvements is basically any time of the year. This time, I chose Fall. I suffer from a seasonal depressive disorder, and I knew that it was important to at least make a change to help prevent and keep my symptoms at bay. I had been noticing that my living room was feeling really drab and dreary, and that is where I spend a lot of my time.
I had followed the trend of barn red walls, which was popular a few years back. What was I thinking? Since the living room is the focal point of the home, why not make it bright and cheerful rather than dark and depressing? Look at the picture of my living room. (Below.)
Besides the cute critters in the photo, is there anything uplifting and happy about these hues? The answer is no! (Also, please excuse the clutter!) My living room is definitely lived in!
In looking at the color scheme in this photo, I only see dreariness. Is that even a word? It doesn’t take much to brighten up a room! I knew I wanted to do something simple, yet stunning, and so I decided to make changes with a bit of paint and a beautiful new rug.
