Tomorrow is Never Guaranteed

August 23, 2021 by Juliann

Let’s face it, Life is scary. Things are happening in this crazy world that I do not even want to think about. I try to avoid the news, because everything that is happening worldwide is very disturbing and stressful. And as much as I try to stay away from the news reports, I still end up finding out everything that is going on through social media.

I try to keep my focus on what is the most important thing in life, and that is my family and friends. Since tomorrow is never guaranteed, (especially during this pandemic) it is important to let each and every person that you love know what they mean to you. Don’t let a day go by that you do not tell your loved ones how much you care about them. You just never know when the last time will be that you will see that person.

I don’t mean to be negative, but it is important to treat each person kindly since life really is fragile. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Hopefully only great things are on the horizon, but bad things do happen.

For instance- your life may be moving along as usual and then when you least expect it, a fatal car accident happens which takes the life of your loved one. Fatal car accidents often cause anger, frustration, sadness, and confusion to set in.

My first experience with a sudden death was when I was 15 years old. My younger sister’s best friend, Jamie, was killed in a car accident at age 13. My sister Jen, had just been hanging out with Jamie earlier that day on recess at school. The two girls were sneakily eating Snickers bars on the playground and were giggling about boys and discussing which outfits they would wear to their eight grade promotion in a  couple of weeks.

Jamie’s sister had taken Jamie out to dinner after school that day, and her sister was driving her new red sports car. It was a sunny day, and she had the convertible top open. The sisters were headed down a narrow country road, when a truck came out of nowhere and crossed the center line. Jamie’s sister was run right off the road and she hit a tree. Jamie was killed instantly. It was such a tragedy. I will never forget how I felt when I found out what happened. My sister has never been the same.

So come what may, it is important to make every day count. Make it a goal to do something kind for someone each day. Reach out to friends and family that you may not have connected with in awhile. Give that hug, make that phone call- heck, even send a quick text- today.  Don’t put it off! Tomorrow is just never guaranteed.

I agree. Everything is so crazy the last couple of years and really has me stressed. That is probably why my BP is through the roof. I try to ignore what is going on but it is really hard.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
