Mommy Stress Taking a Toll- Use Effective Ways to Flush Tensions

September 6, 2021 by Juliann

Let’s face it, a lot of mommies today have been feeling anxious nowadays. Irrespective of how you vote, the country is witnessing an anxiety-producing political moment with ever-increasing Facebook arguments. And the demonstrations, family divisions, national political unease, and others.

Studies show that post-election anxiety seems to swell the numbers of sleepless, self-medicating, and depressed Americans. And that’s the reason why therapists and counsellors are back-to-grind. However, mommies, who once were calm, now impose another category of people dealing with anxiety on their children. The household chaos, babysitting, and professional front are all taking a toll on mommies.

So, if you’re one of those people, you wonder what you should do as a mom? Well, get proactive! Studies show that nothing reduces anxiety faster than getting to the road- action. Can’t wait to know how? Well, below mentioned are some ways of reducing stress and boosting your ability:

Limit your Social Media Time:

It may be pretty easy to get caught up on social media- the Facebook and Instagram loop makes you a part of a never-ending tornado. Every one minute of social media posts, the stress levels are known to increase tremendously. For instance, #FreeMania of women looking miserable after being victims of domestic violence. And, this triggers political memes, social media posts, and gifs.

And that’s what makes anxiety a contagious disorder.

Thereby, never let yourself get amidst the lengthy Facebook debate. Instead, the best you can do is dedicate a specific time each day to check in these websites and leave them alone. Make sure to put your phone aside, especially when kids are around or during bedtime.

Meditate Often:

Meditating is known to get you out from the toils of the world. And that’s the reason it is an excellent treatment to undertake. Though, you can cease or reduce anxiety through several strategies- from exercising to breathing techniques.

Or, you can also include foods like pumpkin seeds, Brazilian nuts, fatty fish, etc., in your diet. The experts at Pure Pressure Collective are all thumbs up for cannabis products like a pressure pot, raspberry gelato, gummies, among popular foods. The foods you eat work wonders in supporting your brain function and lowers symptom severity. After all, their brain-boosting properties go a long way.

Add an Hour of Sleep:

Moms take a lack of sleep as a badge of honor. However, lack of sleep becomes difficult when you’re tired, and handling stress becomes daunting.

An edgy, cranky mom is the one that later feels ashamed and guilty of her disrespectful and less-than-ideal parenting style. Thus, arming yourself in difficult times is vital. Try taking a nap when your child is, or you can take some extra sleep on the weekends. Even at night, drop all you can, whether it is chaos or watching TV, and go to bed when you’re sleepy.

The Verdict

Practicing mindfulness, connecting with friends, channeling anxiety are more ways of leading a worthwhile and stress-free life. After all, small changes in your lifestyle can go a long way in changing your life for good.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
