Smart Strategies For Effortless Home Storage

December 19, 2023 by Juliann

When it comes to improving your home, you typically always think about the aesthetics first. Once that is done, you will think about how to make it a more functional place. There are so many ways you can improve your cozy home – and your ideas will be unique to every single homeowner on the planet. When you improve your home, in this kind of way, you will be adding so much value and feeling so much better about everything.

In this post, we are going to be talking about storage or wire shelving and how to make the most of this kind of thing around your space. If you can make your home a more spacious area, life will be a lot easier. You will feel a lot clearer, and you will get so much more done due to this. The cool thing is that there are so many different ways you can create space and add storage areas to your house. So, let’s begin:

A Simple Declutter Can Do So Much

We are going to start with a very basic point, but it’s worth getting this one out there as a foundation. There’s no point doing anything specific or complicated if you cannot remove basic messes and create space simply. This kind of thing isn’t exactly fancy and it’s quite tedious, but it needs to be done. It’s amazing just how much space you can create when you declutter areas of the home. It’s very common for people to leave things lying around – especially in spare rooms. If you can put in the effort to stop this kind of thing, you will have a more spacious home sooner rather than later.

Organisation expert Scott Evans from Pink Storage says “When you’re running out of space in your home and need more storage, the best option is to declutter your home.  Start room by room and spend about 15-20 minutes at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed.”

Optimizing Your Closet Space

Your closet areas can become packed very easily if you’re not careful. One of the best things you can do is to look for ways to optimize the space in these areas. Sometimes, you don’t even have to do anything too difficult or convoluted. You don’t have to come up with some cool technique or fold items in a specific way. You might just have things thrown in lazily that you should change up.

Functional Furniture Ideas

A lot of people have their furniture aligned in a way that is not conducive to a spacious home. They will just throw their things down in a manner that looks good to them without considering other aspects. Think about space when you are aligning your furniture. It also might be a good idea to think about smart storage solutions that can provide two jobs in one. Now that you have all of this space, you are able to come up with much greater storage solutions that can make life so much easier.

Outdoor Space Solutions

If you have space in your exterior, it will make a lot of sense to utilize it. You could even build Secure Storage Sheds in order to get the absolute best out of your situation. It’s always a good idea to utilize this in the right way instead of just throwing everything you have randomly into your garage/shed area. Outdoor solutions can take away so much stress from everything you’ve got going on regarding the interior. You could even use self-storage services.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
