I received a Teacarina to review. The Teacarina is a type of Ocarina. This family of wind instruments has been around for approximately 12,000 years. They can ben made from ceramic, clay, wood, glass, bone or plastic and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There is a mouthpiece that you blow into and 4-12 holes that can be covered or uncovered to produce different notes.
My son, Braxton (who is seven-years old) has expressed a true interest in playing music. He is following in the footsteps of my oldest son who is the lead singer in his band and plays the lead guitar. Anyway, Braxton has a drum set, an electric guitar and was excited to try the Teacarina. He had never played a woodwind instrument.. He is learning how to properly place his fingers over the holes to change the pitch and play the tunes. He can already play “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” I love hearing him diligently practice. It is much more pleasant to hear my child playing the Teacarina than those loud drums of his,for goodness sake! The sound the Teacarina makes is very sweet. It is music to my ears.
