3 Services That You Didn’t Know Your Vet Offered

February 17, 2020 by Juliann

You trust your veterinarian with your pet’s life – literally. From emergency visits when your dog found your supply of baking chocolate to those annual checkups that help you to know that your cat is in perfect health, you have probably become accustomed to visiting your vet on a regular basis.

That being said, there a few services that you might have never thought to inquire with your vet about before. With so much education and experience to back them up, veterinary offices have begun to offer more than just health checkups.

1. Grooming Services

Not only does keeping your pet groomed help give you a break from the odors that can sometimes come from your furry friend, but it also carries with it some specific health benefits. Because of this, it makes perfect sense for grooming services to be something offered by your veterinarian.

Furthermore, some things like nail clipping and ear cleaning can be difficult to do, as pets generally aren’t fans. Vets have the know-how to take care of these things without putting too much stress on your pet.

2. Counseling Services

Try as you might to provide a calm and nurturing home for your pet, occasionally behavioral issues arise. This can be particularly true when it comes to rescue animals who have undergone some sort of trauma in their past.

Whether your dog is a frequent whiner or barker resulting in issues with neighbors or if your pet is unusually aggressive with people or other animals, correcting behavioral issues can be a frustrating and tricky process. It is a good idea to check in with a veterinary office such as veterinarianfriscotx.com to book an appointment for one of their counseling services, as that could help you out. One thing is for sure, the longer you leave behavioral issues unchecked, the harder it will be to correct them.

3. Nutrition Planning

When it comes to the food we give our pets, we have a tendency to simply pick a brand of food from the grocery store and serve some up once or twice a day. Unfortunately, though, feeding your pet might be a bit more complicated than that.

If your dog or cat is starting to appear overweight, that is one sign that it might be time to reevaluate how you feed them. Your pet’s weight is only one indication that your pet isn’t getting a balanced diet. Some signs that your pet is slightly malnourished include changes in attitude or loss of fur.

If your pet is experiencing any of these signs of malnutrition then it’s time to check in with your vet. They might be able to prescribe a new diet plan to help get your pet back on track. Most vets who offer this service can also supply any special foods that you might need to purchase so you can start your pet’s new diet right away.

It is important to look after your pet and provide them with the right lifestyle, and with veterinary offices now offering services such as the above three, you will make it easier to give your pet a happy and healthy life.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
