Wow!!!! I am all for my children being able to do whatever they wish to do to enhance their skills and to get the hmost out of their high school experience, but (Excuse my language) Hot Damn!!!! I went into the school athletic fee(s) lady and she handed me a bill with the total being 800.00 that has to be paid pronto for my daughter to be cleared to participate in dance team. I know that some of the money was 'stuff' we didn't pay for last year, some of it being her cheerleading, but we turned in her uniform and let's just say that I was unaware of most of these fees. Originally the cheer coach was willing to forego the fees if my daughter kept her end of the bargain and endured to the end of the season, but my daughter had actually quit the team right at the tail end because she didn't like how 'slutty' and 'stuck up' she felt some of her team mates were being. Anyway, I do feel a feeling of failure here as a parent, because I should have made this a learning experience for her……"Commit to something and STICK with it." But alas, I failed on that one and now we are stuck with a huger than life bill. In the end, however, I spoke with the principal and the sports fee coordinator….(if that's what ya call them) And theywere very nice. We are working on a payment plan which will allow my girl to do the dance team!!!!! Yay for understanding school staff who are willing to work with you. Whew!!!!
