Cleaning Tips to Prep Your Home for Holiday Entertaining

November 25, 2019 by Juliann

While the holiday season is still many weeks away, it seems that it hasn’t stopped people from already starting to switch over to holiday-season mode. You’ll find all the essentials, décor, and gift ideas out on the shelves and you can even feel a bit of that holiday excitement in the air. Of course, if you plan to do a lot of entertaining in your home during the holiday season, this is also the time to start prepping your home and giving it a deep clean. This will ensure that you make a fabulous impression on everyone who stops by.

To help get you through the very non-glamourous, but essential steps of house cleaning for holiday entertaining, here’s a list of some useful tips and tricks.

Carpets Looking Tired and Stained – Opt for a Professional Cleaning

Sometimes, even with all your best efforts and intentions, the carpeting in your home has just gotten to the point where it’s too tired and stained. Rather than trying to tackle all those stains on your own, professional carpet cleaning can save you a whole lot of hassle. Not only that but professional cleaners, carpet cleaners Chelmsford have access to commercial-grade tools and products. These are going to be much more effective on your carpet than anything you can pick up yourself.

Professionals will be able to effectively clean delicate carpets, synthetic, and wool carpeting with ease. You can typically order the service per each room, so you don’t have to worry about doing the full house at once.

Remove Any Excess Clutter

This is also a great time to walk through the house and remove any excess clutter. You want the space to feel open, welcoming, and comfortable, and clutter can tend to make spaces feel more confined and messier. If it’s not essential and it’s not adding to the décor, pack it up until after the holiday entertaining season is over.

Splurge on Linens for the Bathroom

Because your guests will be making use of your bathroom facility, a nice touch is to go further than just a deep cleaning and also splurge on some new linens. Choose something that feels elegant and plush such as lovely hand towels and a gorgeous throw rug in front of the sink. You can take things one step further and also set out some scented candles that you can light while entertaining.

Bring Out the Holiday Décor

Of course, it will feel much more holiday-like in your home if you also put out some holiday décor. You can keep things sleek and simple with just a few choice pieces, or you can go all out and really do up the place in style. With all the excess clutter cleaned up and taken away, now you’ll have available space for decorations.

Entertaining in Style

Using these holiday housecleaning and prepping tips will help ensure that your home is not only ready to welcome guests but will make them feel right at home and comfortable.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
