A Guide to Quickly Finding Accommodation for Work Travel

December 18, 2023 by Juliann

Sometimes, it just gets super hectic, especially when it comes to work. When you’re wanting to switch up your career, sometimes that means having to really go about it quickly. For example, if it’s an interview process and it’s lengthy, you might need to stay somewhere for an extended period. The same goes for if you have a job and you’re needed for a project far away enough to where you’ll need accommodation.

Unfortunately, when it comes to work, it’s very rare to actually get time to find a place. Sometimes, it’s as little as a few days that you need to just get up, leave, go to a new location, and stay there for a while. It’s not ideal, honestly; it’s stressful, especially since a lot of businesses won’t even help their employees or talent with this stress (unless you’re in some executive position). But with that said, you got to do what you got to do. So, how can you quickly find accommodation when it comes to work travel? Well, here’s what you need to know!

Look into Accommodation Platforms

For the average person, this is usually a major go-to since it’s usually the most reliable, especially if it’s last-minute short-term stays. You may want to look into websites like Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia since these all allow you to filter options based on your preferences and budget. Plus, you can use the search filters to narrow down your choices and find available accommodations that suit your schedule.

See if You Can Get Corporate Housing

Usually, companies will help with this, and they’ll usually try to provide a furnished apartment if their employees or contractors are starting for an extended period of time, like a few weeks or months. Plus, these short-term rentals and provide the comfort and convenience of a home away from home. But make sure you reach out to the company you work with and ask them first since the prices are usually different than hotels.

Explore Extended Stay Hotels

These are slowly growing in popularity, and they’re not nearly as pricey as traditional hotels. These are designed for longer stays and often offer discounted rates for extended bookings (it’s all going to depend, really). So, you might want to look into brands like Residence Inn by Marriott and Homewood Suites by Hilton, which provide comfortable accommodations with amenities like kitchenettes, so you don’t have to be stuck in an Airbnb with a list of chores and cleaning fees. But in general, just make sure to check for availability and rates, especially if your work trip extends over several days.

Look into Business Travel Packages

Not a lot of people know about this, but some accommodations offer special packages designed for business travelers. These packages might have something include like certain amenities needed for workers, like complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast, and access to business centers. But you’ll need to first check with hotels directly or look for business traveler-focused deals on booking platforms.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
