Where else can you put away the sunscreen and still have a huge splashy summertime water fun? Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park that is certain to please your entire family (and you can leave the sunscreen at home!)
My family and I got to visit the Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound location a couple of weeks ago. I brought along my four children, my son’s girlfriend, my younger brother, his wife and their adorable baby. (My kids and I had visited before, but this was the first time for my brother’s family.) They were so excited!
Upon our arrival, we were promptly checked in and given a couple of sets of complimentary adorable fuzzy wolf ears for the kids. We went up to our room to get changed into our swimsuits to begin our water fun. The room was huge! There was plenty of space for all of us.

We immediately rode the elevator down to the water park. I offered to take baby Wesley into the child-friendly baby pool so that his parents and my kids could go enjoy the slides. He loved the warm water.

My family had so much fun swimming in the wave pool, going on slides and relaxing in the hot tub. What always impresses me about my visits to Great Wolf Lodge is the cleanliness! I mean, you are walking around barefoot and you don’t feel icky. I usually cannot stand public pools, but as you can see from the above picture of my son and his girlfriend under water, the water is crystal clean!
The staff is very friendly and the lines for slides are not long at all if you visit during the week like I always do. My favorite part about Great Wolf Lodge is that when you need a break from swimming, you can go to your room and rest up, watch TV and get something to eat. We brought sandwich fixings and other snacks from home and kept them in our refrigerator in our room. For dinner, however, we ordered pizza from Pizza Hut (which is right in the hotel.) I usually do not eat at the restaurants at the hotel because they are too spendy for me.
We do, however, love the Bear Paw sweet shop. It is a real treat for my children to buy all different kinds of yummy fudge there! They have a huge selection, everything from bubblegum flavor to rocky road. Still very expensive, but we love it.
One of Braxton’s favorite things to do (besides swimming, of course) is the MagiQuest. They have a shop where you can buy your child their own customized ‘magic wand.’

While we do not actually play the game (again, too costly for me…..the wand costs about 17.99 just by itself) but Braxton loves pointing his wand at all of the various displays (talking bears and wolves, etc.) throughout the lodge and watching them ‘come to life.’
The arcade is fun too, but to my surprise, Braxton did not want to play any games during this visit! (I didn’t complain, however, it saved me a buck or two.) I guess he was just so happy that he was tall enough to enjoy every one of the slides in the water park, that he chose to spend all of his time there! (Last time we visited he was not yet tall enough.)
Once again, thank you Great Wolf Lodge for a fantastic time! We had such a blast and made many great memories. I cannot wait to go back!
