Happy Easter! (One day late, but that is okay. I generally don't blog on Holidays.) Anyways I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Ours was great. On Saturday, I took my girls to an acting gig in Downtown Portland, which was one scary drive if you hate driving highways, as I do. I am just not great with directions, nor driving downtown. It all frightens me. My oldest son, Jonathan and his girl, Cassidy took my little Braxton to enjoy the sun at the river while I was away. (So thankful to have a babysitter:)
Anyway, we started our Easter festivities later in the evening, when I gathered everyone around to color eggs. (My husband was too tired for that this year, because he had just completed a 12 hour shift.) So, I got everything set up to dye them eggs. A few of the eggs were actually FROZEN because they were too near the back of our dang refrigerator, so I hope those will still taste okay later….ooooops.
My son, Jonathan, is 18, and I am so thankful that he still loves to do family stuff like this. I am not anxious (or willing) for him to grow up, although I am certain I won't be able to hold him back:)
My egg artists included Jonathan, Cassidy, Kendallyn, Myelie and Braxton. It was fun. Braxton's little hands were almost black from the dye. Luckily I made him remove most of his clothing ahead of time so that he wouldn't stain them, too.

Leter that evening when all of the mess was put away and (most) of the kids were in bed, I 'helped' the Easter Bunny assemble baskets. The next morning I got up a tad earlier than everybody else, and 'helped' the Easter Bunny hide them eggs.
After getting the kiddos up, I 'made' them 'ooh and ahh' over their baskets before Braxton went on his Easter egg hunt in the living room. I hope we found them all, because I only hid the hard boiled eggs!
Everybody was pretty sleepy, but we all made it to church on time! Church was wonderful and I love hearing about the true meaning of Easter. It makes everything else so irrelevent, like the eggs, bunny and baskets, doesn't it? We left church a bit early, before Sunday School classes, because we were expecting company in the early afternoon. (My husbands parents and family.)
My in-laws ended up calling and could not get together for Easter dinner, because they were not feeling well. Normally, that would be no big deal, due to the fact that I would not have to worry about cleaning up as much before or after. The only thing was, we had not gone grocery shopping and had zero dinner fixings. (My in-laws usually do the ham and potatoes.) So I ordered pizza for our Easter dinner. Not traditional, but hey, it was okay:)
