Fighting Fit: How to Increase Your Energy Levels

March 30, 2021 by Juliann

If you often feel tired and drained at the end of the day, you might put it down to your demanding job or busy personal life. However, your mental and physical exhaustion could stem from your lifestyle.

If you want to feel fighting fit throughout the years, you might need to make various changes to your routine. Check out these top tips on how to increase your energy levels.

Lower Your Stress Levels

A hectic lifestyle can cause much stress and anxiety, which can result in poor concentration due to racing thoughts and an inability to switch off. If you often struggle with stress, you will likely feel exhausted after a long day.

If this sounds familiar, you must look for ways to lower your stress levels, such as setting some time aside for yourself to meditate, to go for a walk, or to embrace a fun hobby. Also, aim to avoid stress triggers, which can improve your mental health and daily energy levels. If you are struggling to combat stress, don’t hesitate to talk to a doctor or therapist for advice, support, and treatment.

Increase Your Physical Activity

A lack of exercise could be responsible for your low energy levels. If you live a sedentary lifestyle, it is time to get up off your seat and move your body. You might not feel like exercising when you are tired, but it could ensure you’re bursting with energy throughout the week. Plus, it can lower your risk of various chronic diseases, such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

Look for an exercise that will boost your energy levels. Yoga is a great option to get your body moving, as the gentle movements can increase blood flow, warm up your muscles, and improve your flexibility and strength. As a result, you’ll be more energetic than ever before, as you will feel fit, nimble, and alert after a yoga session. Also, you can take a class to get started, or you can perform the workout at home with a thick yoga mat, unrestrictive clothing, and a how-to video.

Drink More Water

The human body is made from approximately 60% water, and the amount is determined by your age and gender. However, you will lose water from sweat and urine throughout the day, which is why you must drink water to counteract the loss.

If you don’t drink enough H2O, you will struggle with poor energy levels, reduced brain function, and a low mood. Also, you are more likely to experience anxiety and fatigue throughout the day. For this reason, you must drink an average of six to eight glasses of water per day, or more—depending on the temperature and your body weight. The next time you feel tired, treat yourself to a glass of water. You might be surprised by the difference it makes to your energy, mood, and mindset.

Don’t suffer with tiredness or fatigue any longer. Embrace physical activity, grab some water, and try to eliminate stress from the body.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
