4 Ways to Take the Stress out of Your Home Move

January 4, 2019 by Juliann Leave a Comment

Home moves are routinely described as being one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through in life, and for good reason. What with the anxiety of passing such a big milestone combined with the hassle of making sure everything goes off without a hitch, it’s easy to see why moving home gets such a bad rap.

The whole experience doesn’t have to be as stressful as it’s made out to be, though. If you’ve got a home move coming up, you don’t necessarily have to fear what is in store for you. There are ways to take the stress out of moving home, four of which can be found below.

1. Work alongside a conveyancing solicitor

If you truly want your home move to be as stress-free an experience as can be, then you need to align yourself with a professional residential conveyancing solicitor. By doing so, you’ll share and lighten your load, meaning you’ll have less to stress about and more time to devote elsewhere. A typical conveyancing service will cover:

  • The general buying and selling of property
  • Leasehold property
  • Remortgaging
  • Equity release
  • Landlord matters
  • Property gifts
  • If you have to deal with any of these factors with regards to your home move explicitly, especially, then you should make sure to work alongside a conveyancing solicitor.

    2. Itemize as much as you can

Itemizing is the act of presenting a list of all of your individual items, and it’s something you should be doing if you want your home move to go off without a hitch. It’s true, from the larger items you own right down to your small worldly belongings, everything should be individually listed. Doing so will make your move so much easier, especially when it comes to unpacking your goods into the correct rooms and areas when you reach your new abode.

    3. Clearly mark out zones designated for rubbish

During the packing process, you will come across many items that you do not need anymore and, thus, want to throw out. To avoid accidentally getting rid of something you actually want, you should clearly mark out the zones that are designated for rubbish. Doing this and keeping your trash clearly separated from what you want to bring to your new home will stop you muddling everything  together. If that were to happen, you’d face added headaches further on down the line as you seek to retrieve whatever you’ve accidentally thrown out.

    4. Get your removal situation sorted well in advance

You’ll have enough to deal with on your moving day without having to organize how you’re going to move everything you own from point A to point B. For this reason, getting your removal situation sorted as well in advance as you can is a must. This could mean booking a removal company, or this could mean ensuring that whoever you have enlisted to help you turns up on the day — whatever route you take, just make everything is booked and planned before the big day.
