Seven Ways to Treat Yourself as a Mom

January 13, 2020 by Juliann

Being a mom, whether for the first time or the fifth time, can be exhausting, albeit rewarding, filled with ups and downs and moments that you will treasure and others that you wish you could forget.

Every mom needs to be able to treat themselves, and here are some of the top ways that you can spend a few moments focusing on yourself, rather than your kids.

Make Time For Yourself

Making time for yourself is the ultimate treat for moms, allowing time to focus on your own hobbies and interests. Whether you snatch a few moments when the kids are in bed or ask a relative to look after the kids for an hour or two, it is important to make time for yourself in order to stay refreshed and become the best mom possible.

Buy Jewelry

If you believe that all your energy and money is going into looking after your children, you should take a break and treat yourself to something that you desire. Jewelry is a great option for new mothers as these beautiful accessories can help you to jazz up any outfit, make you feel elegant and sophisticated again, and can even be bought as mementos of your child’s birth and your time as a new mom.

The collection of gold quartz jewelry at oracal.com features a range of gorgeous centerpieces for any outfit.

Stay Glamorous

As a mom, you may feel like you spend most of your time in slacks and casualwear. Although it may feel good to lounge around in your pajamas all day, if you are beginning to grow tired of your joggers, consider glamming up for a day or night, even if you do not intend to leave the house. Putting on your favorite dress or high heels can remind you of your own life before the baby, and help you to boost your self-esteem.

Invest in Luxuries

Every mom needs a few luxuries to help them to get through the days, and there are many types of items that are both luxurious and beneficial for new moms. For instance, consider treating yourself to a hot tub or sauna in your backyard, which can both help you to relax and indulge, as well as reduce any of the leftover aches and pains from pregnancy.

Go on a Date

Whether you are single or married, going on a date is one of the best ways to remind yourself of your connection with your partner and other people, and to treat yourself to an evening off away from the kids.

Invest in a trusted sitter and have fun with an activity that you have missed, such as going to the cinema or the theater for the day. Even if you choose to go alone, there is no reason why you should miss out on a guilt-free experience away from the children.

Make Your Home a Special Space

As a new mother, it is likely that you will be spending a lot of time at home looking after the kids, especially if you are on maternity leave. Then, you should treat yourself by making your home a special space in which you can relax through redecoration projects. These can include painting your walls in your favorite color, personalizing your décor, and even investing in coveted pieces of furniture.

Welcome to Beautiful Moms

Hi! I’m Juliann, a wife to my wonderful husband, Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I first started Beautiful Moms Blog in 2008, my goal was to connect with and support other moms who were in the thick of raising young children. It became a creative outlet where I could share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with companies that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It’s so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. I have always believed that every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she’s in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms Blog has grown and evolved right along with me. Today, my children are adults, and I have embraced the blessings of being a grandma. My passion for encouraging women hasn’t changed—it has simply expanded to include every season of motherhood, from pregnancy and the newborn years to raising teenagers, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

I’m excited to have my daughter, Myelie, as a contributor to Beautiful Moms. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood. She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a home wherever life takes you.

Together, we’re here to support women through every age and stage of motherhood—from pregnancy to menopause—with helpful advice, honest product recommendations, beauty and wellness tips, and plenty of encouragement along the way.

We are PR Friendly and love working with great companies!
