Keeping a clean home doesn’t have to be hard work. There are several things you can do today to ensure a sanitary environment that you can be proud of. By taking it a day at a time, you can have a home that you’re not embarrassed for others to see. Your home should be a place of comfort and refuge, so follow these easy tips to make it look and feel spotless (or at least close to that!).
Keep up with your kitchen. This is (at least for us) one of the hardest things to maintain. The dishes can quickly pile up, and the pots and pans easily take up much of our sink space with little effort. If we let this go for more than a day, we instantly regret it. Make it a habit to clean your plates as you use them and wash them right away. For large dishes, soak them to make your life easier. No one likes a dirty kitchen!
Keep clutter and dirt off your floors. If you have hard flooring, a simple mop job here and there (after a good sweeping) will keep it looking fresh and sparkly. With carpets, make sure you vacuum regularly. With our kids, it’s a necessity since they seem to always drop a trail of crumbs (and since they LOVE granola bars, we always find tiny chocolate chips!). We love our automatic robotic vacuum cleaner because it makes life easier and does a decent job. On top of vacuuming, you can also rent a carpet cleaner or have it done professionally. The cost of carpet cleaning is actually pretty affordable. It’s amazing how much gunk comes up when carpets are cleaned, so keep that in mind and try to do it every now and then to keep things fresh.
Stay on top of your laundry. This, just like the kitchen, can pile up and become a big problem very quickly. It’s important to keep things fresh so the whole family has plenty of clean clothes to choose from. We try to make Saturdays our laundry day because we can all pitch in and make it happen.
