If you are a child of the 80’s, then you probably remember what a fanny pack is. If you are like me, then you probably proudly toted one around, feeling rather stylish. Face it, fanny packs were beyond convenient! I had a purple one when I was younger, and my family went on a trip to Disneyland. My fanny pack came in handy because I never lost it, nor had the slightest worry about it getting stolen. My money and my chap stick were safe and sound when I went on all those exciting rides.
Fast forward- in my high school days, you would not have caught me dead with a fanny pack. At that time of my life, only nerds wore them, and I was not about to look uncool! So, needless to say, I hung up my fanny pack indefinitely, and did end up losing it. I ended up losing many wallets and purses because I was just too ‘cool’ to be seen with a fanny pack.
And then, I became a Mommy. I found myself WISHING that fanny packs were still a thing because it was so hard to carry around a purse, a diaper bag, and a squirming baby. How was I going to keep track of my car keys, wallet, lip gloss AND my those ever vanishing binkis? How convenient would that have been to have everything neatly packed away in a nice little fanny pack nestled snugly on my hip.
Now, my children are mostly grown, and I want to be one of those “cool moms.” I still have one more child at home, and my days are not as crazy. However, I am not any more organized now than I was with three active little ones demanding my sanity. Cool moms use fanny packs! I promise, they DO!
I cannot stand carrying around purses when I go walking, running errands, or traveling. Purses are way too bulky, and they get in the way. I need a place to keep my essentials, such as my keys, cash, debit card, cell phone, a mirror, facial powder (because I get oily) AND my lipstick. I cannot leave home without those things at any given time!
