Fruit facials: Achieving a healthy glow with wild blueberries

February 6, 2014 by Juliann Leave a Comment

Winter makes us all want to hit the reset button, striving for a healthier year. Nothing says healthy like glowing, flawless skin. After trying thousands of skin care products, we found that the best way to freshen up your look was using the natural products we see and eat every day: fruit. The right fruits contain high amounts of antioxidants that fight wrinkles and reduce redness in the skin, especially Wyman’s wild blueberries. Out of 40 fruits and vegetables tested, Wyman’s wild blueberries took first prize in the antioxidant category.

Blueberries have been popping up on spa menus all over the country as pricey treatments for the face, but a freezable bag of Wyman’s wild blueberries allows you an inexpensive way to pamper yourself and hydrate your skin.

Back in August, during the very short harvest season for wild blueberries, Wyman’s of Maine froze their crop within 24 hours of picking to offer the freshest wild blueberries year round. Wyman’s has 10,000 lush acres of wild blueberries where the antioxidant-packed fruit goes from farm to freezer to your face. The frozen berries are ideal for reducing puffiness caused from weeks of holiday celebration.

Rejuvenate your skin with one of these Wyman’s wild blueberry facials:

1. For exfoliation: Combine Wyman’s wild blueberries, raw organic honey and olive oil.

2. For moisturizing: Combine Wyman’s wild blueberries, cranberries, Wyman’s blackberries and mashed banana.

3. For hydration: Combine Wyman’s wild blueberries and greek yogurt.

4. For toning: Combine Wyman’s wild blueberries, vinegar and water.

*Apply liberally all over your entire face, neck and chest area. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

My Experience: My skin was looking pretty dull and dry this winter and so I decided on the exfoliation formula. I mixed the ingredients together in a bowl, smashing the blueberries, and mixing them with the honey and olive oil. I then slathered the mixture all over my face, neck and chest area. I left it on for ten minutes, and rinsed (over the kitchen sink so the pieces could go down the disposal.) my face felt amazingly clean and refreshed afterwards.
