Let’s face it, life can really be a pain sometimes! Chances are, you know somebody on your holiday list who could use a little extra TLC in the form of pain therapy.
Introducing… the Wearable Ice Pack
Meet John A., a 36-year-old chef and restaurateur. Three weeks after opening a restaurant, his lifelong dream, the weekend warrior tore his ACL in a surf accident. John could barely stand; but had to keep going to work—His restaurant, reputation, and livelihood depended on it.
John got himself a Snapbac
Snapbac is a new line of clothing (that hit shelves this summer) that offers wearable compression & temperature therapy. You freeze or microwave a Snapbac “temperature pod”; slip it into the built-in pouch on Snapbac’s compression shorts, shirt, or elbow/knee sleeve; then go about your day. Call it a wearable ice or heat pack…
It’s about time someone thought of that! It’s 2015, and we’re still taping zip lock bags of ice to our calf and walking around in drippy socks. We’re still typing with one finger while we hold a heating pad to our shoulder…
It’s helping real people: Like a 48-year-old masseuse who treats her own bad back while she’s treating her clients’, or a 75-year-old golf enthusiast who heats his arthritic knees while he plays.
It’s got a quirky origin story: During the Sydney Olympic Games, an Equestrian athlete got tired of holding ice-packs up to his achy horse, so he designed a form-fitting blanket with pouches for cold and heat packs. The horse—which he’d bought for nothing and nobody thought could win–carried him to the Olympic finals. He figured the concept would work for humans too and launched Snapbac out of San Diego.
It’s tackling a big problem: 100 million Americans suffer pain each year—Back pain, knee pain, arthritis, stiffness, soreness. Doctors say, “Put ice on it.” “Heat it.” “Wrap it.” But most of us can’t spend our whole day on the couch, holding up an ice pack or heating pad. We have to drive, work, cook, garden. Snapbac offers therapy on the go.
It uses brand new technology: Watch the video!
It’s designed to empower: Snapbac uses mesh-like material on the pouches so the heat and ice pods would be visible –so we can wear our aches and pains proudly. Sporting a Snapbac means you value your time, and refuse to let pain rule your life.
My thoughts: My husband has an injured shoulder from crashing his dirt bike in our yard. He has a torn rotary cuff, and the doctor has said that he will require surgery eventually. Until then, Jon has to suffer the pain, and he does not like taking pain medicine. He simply can’t because he drives all the time for work.
Thankfully, we have discovered Snapbac. Jon was sent a Snapbac Temperature Therapy Shirt to try out. It is so wonderful for Jon because he is able to wear it under his work shirt and it helps to control his pain all day. He uses the heat pod, and reheats it throughout the day. This has greatly reduced his level of pain and makes it tolerable.
