The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan should be a wake-up call to all of us. Are we prepared for disaster? What if you were forced to leave your home with little notice? What if you could not leave your home? Do you have enough food, water and supplies to sustain your family for at least 72 hours? I came across a very helpful website called Quake Kare from which I have ordered a 72 hour kit for my family. I feel content, at least that I have something put away (in our coat closet by the front door) that we could grab if we needed to evacuate, or that we could use to sustain ourselves for at least 72 hours.
I have also found a great website called 'Emergency Preparedness' that I want to share with you, which I have found to be a great resource for getting your family prepared in the event of a disaster. Click here.
Seriously, your family depends on you to keep them safe, dry and fed in the event of an emergency. Don't let them down!
Here is the 72 hour kit I ordered for my family: (I ordered two of them for my family of 6)
