Inspire healing and unlock pleasure with an all-natural option for women
Women Deserve Pleasure. Women Deserve Options. Both Pharmaceutical & Alternative.
What: The FDA approved Sprout Pharmaceuticals’ drug Addyi (Flibanserin) to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in women. A media frenzy rose yesterday around ‘the first pharmaceutical drug for HSDD,’ but failed to address existing natural options available to women that treat a host of sexual challenges. From enhancing sexual sensation, easing access to orgasm and diminishing pain and discomfort, Foria has shown a broad spectrum of benefits since it’s inception on the market for women of all ages. Note, Addyi is only for select premenopausal women.
Foria, a cannabis-infused ‘pre’ lubricant is applied before intimate activity, or during foreplay, to relax the vaginal muscles and increase tissue sensation and blood flow. The effects create a kind of localized high and steers away from any psychoactive head high. In other words, women who aren’t crazy for cannabis can use this product comfortably without getting ‘high.’
Who: The female-centric company, Foria, wants the sexual health and education communities to note the overwhelmingly positive response patients have reported over the last year since their launch in June 2014.
There is more research now on the effects of marijuana than there is on Addyi.
Why: This is ‘A Milestone Moment’ [Forbes] in women’s health. Information on the benefits cannabis can bring to the sexual health space has not been heard by the masses due to the taboo surrounding medical marijuana and limited clinical research funding. With the spotlight on Addyi, it is important to note alternative courses of action for women.
Who should be alerted: Medical professionals/educators, women’s health influencers/activists, sexual health networks and sex equality organizations, coalitions, lobbyists, pharmaceutical companies and other traditional practicers of medicine should be alerted and called to the conversation to make this a truly powerful milestone moment in women’s health.
Where: Foria is available in California, Colorado and coming soon to Washington, with future sights on Oregon, Arizona and New York.
