Lots of cousins in town!

June 8, 2009 by Juliann

I am fortunate and blessed to have three sisters that have children who are close in ages to my kids. My sisters and I are very close and our children who are the best of friends as well as cousins enjoy each other so very much. The little tots are happy getting to know each other as well. We have spent quite a lot of our time over at my parents house, and I am certain my folks are pretty nervous about have five children ages three and under wreaking havoc on their home.

Stains, rumpled furniture and Grandma’s pretty things are a commmon happening when this many tots are running around. Us mamas are always on our toes chasing the babes around, but then we cannot chat and giggle as much as we’d like to do.

My parents, brother, two sisters, and eight children went to the zoo today. I had to stay home becaue two of my kids still had school, which gets out tomorrow. Personally, I was glad not having to go to the zoo, because I’ve gone on about a dozen field trips there with my children over the past few years and I literally hate going to the zoo. It is so very BORING. Plus, I am certain Braxton would have thrown horrific tantrums because he would have refused to sit in a stroller. I am not up for his tantrums, as he threw one today in my daughter’s school when I went to pick her up. I was even thinking I’d take Braxton to the school playground for a bit after school let out, but he started running down a hallway and when I went to grab him, he promptly threw himself onto the ground in front of several school staff members and I had to grab him from the floor as he was screaming bloody murder and then he started slapping and hitting me and pulling my hair like a possessed demon and saying, ‘f-you!’ to me.

I was really embarrassed and was reminded quickly of why I usually do not take Braxton very many places unless I wish to be humiliated. People ask me why I do not spank the kid, but in public? People would probably report me for ‘beating’ my kid.

Excuse me now, I must go an dcheck on my boy, as he is probably beating up one of his baby cousins or eating dog poop.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
