Potty Drama!

February 8, 2010 by Juliann

I don’t what’s going On!!!!!! My three year old, who was fully potty and poopy trained is NOW wanting to be back in diapers! I just do not get it. I thought we were doing everything right, But my little guy, who was obsessed with going potty on the toilet has lost interest.

Part of me is sighing with selfish relief, because Braxton was ‘going potty’ every five minutes. He seemed to think that he needed to act on the smallest pee urges. I mean, he would keep going to the toilet. just to ‘dribble’ out a drop or two. Then, Braxton decided that the bathroom garbage can was just the right height for him to potty in and I caught him peeing in the garbage can several times. He also began to just drop his pants and run outside, (rain or shine) and pee off the deck, which was fine by me, but every five minutes?

Then I discovered my little boy was sneaking to hide behind the couch or into a corner to just pee on the wall or the floor. What gives?

And then, of course, Braxton would want complete privcy to have his bowel movements, which is understandable, but messy if I didn’t catch him right after the fact. He wanted to wipe himself, but that is not acceptable nor sanitary. The bathroom would have been covered from floor to ceiling in poop. I know because there was a time or two when I got distracted and had to end up cleaning a whole lot more than just a little bottom.

So having Braxton back in diapers, (the pull up kind) is his choice, and I am not going to fight it right now. Maybe he decided that being ‘a big boy who uses the potty’ was too much work. Braxton is healthy, brilliant, speaking full sentences, interacting beautifully with other children and doing everything else right on key for his age. He throws a mean tantrum now and then, but I just may let this ‘potty drama’ go for now, unless his pediatrician has concerns. I think Braxton will get back on track one of these days.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
