Stuck at Home? Home Improvements to Make your Home your Oasis

Home improvements

There’s no place like home, right? Since we are all pretty much stuck at our homes during this COVID-19 craziness, there is no better time than the present to make your home a dream! Any of the following home improvements can help turn your home into your own little piece of heaven on earth. (And it doesn’t even need to cost that much money!)

Remodel your kitchen– You can certainly go all out by knocking out walls for more space and replacing or updating your appliances. Or a simple fresh coat of paint on the walls or your cupboards can truly make a difference. Replacing your cupboard doors can also bring a refreshing update without a full remodel. So, if you are looking for high-quality cupboard door options, the stylish designs from Lovech could be just what you’re looking for. I ended up painting my outdated cupboards a nice bright white. They used to be a dull and dreary dark brown. I also added pretty new hardware on all of the cupboard doors and lovely new knobs on the drawers. I replaced my kitchen window shade with a pretty new valance. I picked up a bouquet of flowers and arranged them in a vase on my kitchen table. My entire kitchen looks bright and cheerful.

Redecorate your living space– Redecorating any room in your house can be as simple as adding some colorful throw pillows to your bed or your couch. Paint at least one of the walls a happy color, such as a sunny yellow, or add some pretty wallpaper to one of the walls. Consider updating your window dressings by putting up some new blinds or a pretty new valance that compliments your color scheme. If you want to take it up a notch, you could add in some coastal-inspired furniture for a laidback and natural vibe.

Add a Conservatory- Building a conservatory has long been a popular way for homeowners to extend their property with a room that helps to bring the outdoors inside, with large windows letting in all the light of the garden. A conservatory is perfect for letting in some sunshine, even on cooler days. It can be a place of peace and beauty.

Plant a garden– While the weather is nice, and since we can’t really go anywhere due to all of the restrictions in place- planting a garden is the perfect way to add beauty to your surroundings. It isn’t hard to plant a garden, even if you don’t seem to have a green thumb. (I truly don’t!) Start by planting some flowers. Sunflowers and hydrangeas are very easy to grow, and they are gorgeous! If you want to grow vegetables, you cannot go wrong with cherry tomatoes and summer squash. (You can order seeds online, or look for them in your local feed store, if it is open!)

Add a new bathroom fitting- A simple new shower head or a pretty new faucet can completely transform your bathroom, with a little bit of luxury. I also added lovely new light fixtures to my bathroom, because that is where I spend a lot of time getting ready. You can also paint the walls and add a gorgeous new shower curtain along with a coordinating bath rug and matching hand towels. Such simple details can completely enhance the entire look of your bathroom.

You could also consider hiring professional bathroom fitting services, like those offered by SMH Plumbing & Heating or similar companies, to ensure that all the installations are done efficiently and to a high standard if you are unsure of doing them properly yourself. Whether you’re upgrading fixtures or opting for a complete renovation, recruiting professional services can always prove to be a better choice.

Fitting new flooring / carpeting– The quickest and easiest way to transform the look and feel of a room is by adding a decorative new rug. I am obsessed with area rugs! If you are wanting to forego carpeting altogether, then why not update a room with some new flooring! It doesn’t have to be an expensive project.

The most important thing you need to remember while making home improvements is to make it your own! Do whatever you can afford, don’t stress and just keep it simple. Make your home your happy place!
