Why Must You Visit A Dentist Regularly?

June 7, 2022 by Juliann

Dental health is essential, so be sure to make regular visits to your dentist. Even though the number of people visiting the dentist regularly has increased, most people only see a dental health specialist in an emergency, like a broken tooth or unbearable pain in teeth or gums.

If you want to know about dental scheduling, read more.

Why do you need a dental visit?

Even if you are conscientiously taking care of your teeth every day, make sure your mouth is as clean as possible. You might not feel the need, given how good your oral hygiene is, but your dentist will look for signs of trouble in your teeth and gums.

The early signs of many dental problems like cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer aren’t always visible or painful, making it more important to get regular checkups.

How often should your visits be?

Ideally, it would be best to visit your dentist regularly, but that is never the case. First and foremost, certain oral hygiene habits, medical conditions, and individual health status can all impact your risk for oral health problems.

The need for frequent visits may differ on certain factors, like the ones listed below.

  • Age – New teeth are especially vulnerable to decay, so children need to visit the dentist every quarter a year to check for signs of tooth decay. Your pediatric dentist can advise you regarding a cleaning and consultation schedule that is best for your child.
  • Dental health record – It’s crucial to visit the dentist regularly to maintain good dental health. Your dentist will see you regularly to detect any significant issues before they become serious problems. They are trained to watch for small clues that could indicate a more effective health concern.
  • General health record – Although dental visits are essential for maintaining your oral health, they can also help your dental hygienist detect other medical issues that affect your mouth, such as anemia and diabetes. Many health issues first show themselves in the mouth.
  • Weaker gums – Gum disease is expected in the population, even among those who take good care of their teeth. Poor brushing and flossing techniques are often to blame. Even if you brush and floss daily, you may not use the proper procedures.
  • Hidden cavities – Waiting until you have tooth pain to schedule a dental appointment is one of people’s biggest mistakes. The time to see a dentist is before any damage is done. Only a credible and experienced dentist can inspect adequately and see your hidden cavities.

Selkirk is a small place in Manitoba and covers 9.45 square miles of land. The latest population census reports that Selkirk is around 10,268 populated. Affordable accommodation, diverse culinary options, and a mix of people from different backgrounds make the city a great place to live.

There are more than one lakh households in Manitoba with several reputed healthcare providers to serve. Chances are that you will find a Selkirk dentist located in every neighborhood. So it is pretty easy to get access to them even in an emergency.

When you regularly visit the Selkirk dentist near your location, you can keep track of your visits. This will ensure that you maintain the best possible dental health.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
