“Today is the oldest you’ve ever been, and the youngest you’ll ever be again.” — Eleanor Roosevelt. I love that quote! When it comes down to it, age is really just a number. And truthfully, you can look much younger than your age, if you take good care of your skin.
Do you have wrinkles and years of sun damage? The tips I have posted below can help you to prevent further damage, and help restore your skin to a youthful radiance.
Use a Good Sunscreen~ First and foremost, (as I have mentioned in previous posts) you need to include a SPF 30 into your daily skincare routine. Exposure to the sun’s UV rays is the primary reason for skin aging. UV rays speed up the aging process and causes wrinkled, damaged skin. Sun exposure is the number one reason for early signs of aging in the skin, early wrinkles, dark age spots, redness, uneven pigmentation, and even skin cancer.
I would lay out in the sun for hours as a teen. I loved having a deep, dark tan! Unfortunately, that had caused damage to my skin. Thankfully, I have learned to wear my daily SPF, and have learned to love sunless tanning products for when I want to look like a bronze goddess.
Exfoliate your Skin~ As our skin ages, our skin cell’s renewal process slows down. To help speed up the renewal of those new cells, you must get rid of the old, dry, dead skin cells first. Exfoliating boosts cell turnover and can increase the skin’s thickness over time. Without regular exfoliation, your moisturizers and serums cannot penetrate your skin to do their job! With that layer of dead skin, your facial care products leave a layer of dullness. Exfoliating the skin removes that dead layer and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles., and leaves your skin ready to absorb your skin care products.
Invest in Products with Powerful Ingredients~ The truth is, that there are only a few of ingredients in skin care products today that actually do something to improve the skin. My holy grail skin care ingredient is Retinol. I only wish I had discovered this skin care essential years ago. Now I use DRMTLGY Retinol Complex for my skin’s retinol needs.
This next generation, patented, fast-absorbing Retinol formula dramatically reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Our proprietary Trans-Epidermal Carrier maximizes the effect of Retinol’s ability to boost collagen, stimulate cellular regeneration, and normalize the physiology of the skin. Our Retinol Complex .5% includes Vitamin C and E to maximize the effectiveness of the Retinoids, ensuring dramatic results.
- Improves the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores for visibly younger-looking skin
- Perfect use as a nightly treatment
- Results in as few as 3 weeks
I use my Retinol Complex anti-aging serum 3X per week. It has the consistency of velvety butter. I apply it all over my face and neck after cleansing in the evening before bed. It feels amazing on my skin, and absorbs perfectly into my skin. This product has removed all of my fine lines and dark areas. My deeper lines are barely visible. I can tell that my collagen production is increasing, just by the feel of my skin.
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! Your facial moisturizer should be the first and last product that you put on your face each day. The first thing in the morning after cleansing, and the last product you apply before bedtime.
- A moisturizer can help prevent and hydrate dry skin.
- Moisturizer can protect sensitive skin
- Moisturizers hold water in the outermost layer of skin, and keeps it healthy
- Moisturizer protects the outer layer of the skin from harmful effects of sun, wind and other environmental factors.
Your facial moisturizer should always follow your serum (which for me is DRMTLGY Retinol Complex!)
I suggest that you look for moisturizers that contain Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of skin and present in all connective tissue in the body. Its ability to help skin retain moisture makes it a key ingredient in your skin care regimen. Moisture-rich skin ultimately looks more youthful and radiant.
- Apply moisturizers immediately after drying your skin after bathing. The moisturizer will seal the moisture into your skin.
- Moisturizer can even be used as the perfect base for make-up.
- Don’t neglect your neck! Keep that area moist and supple, and apply throughout the day!
- Always apply moisturizer to the hands after every washing!
Besides our faces and necks, our hands are one of the first parts of the body to show aging. I use a hand lotion after every single hand wash, and right before bed. In fact, I keep a bottle of hand cream in my purse, bathroom, and on my night stand. My favorite hand cream is DRMTLGY Hand Cream.
This silky lotion hydrates, nourishes, and protects hands, leaving them considerably softer and smoother. Shea butter, rosemary, and lavender extracts blend to make an extremely effective formula with anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Repairs and revitalizes dry, cracked, or aging hands
- Non-greasy formula absorbs into hands quickly without oily residue
- Lightly scented with rosemary and lavender for a tranquil, soothing effect
I love this perfect hand cream! It leaves my hands looking young and feeling beautifully soft. It does not leave any greasy residue.
Skin Care Summary~ You need to moisturize every morning and night, (using products with effective ingredients) exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub or chemical exfoliant, and apply sunscreen daily! Enjoy that beautiful skin!
