6 Tips for Helping Your Child Stay Sober in 2024

March 27, 2024 by Juliann

Those of you who have resolved to abstain from alcohol this year need to have a strategy in place to follow through with your commitment, as 2024 is already underway. Staying free from alcohol can be difficult, particularly in situations where triggers and temptations are all around you. To have a sober and fulfilling life in 2024, consider these seven suggestions, which can help you improve your child’s life.

1. Ensure your Child’s well-being!

Pay attention to your general hygiene and health as well. It has been demonstrated that when we feel good about ourselves, we are less inclined to abuse alcohol or drugs. The converse also holds: the more likely we are to develop a drug addiction, the lower our self-esteem.

There is a reason why doctors say you have to look after your diet and exercise because they are effective. Regular exercise and a healthy diet lift our spirits and help us feel better.

2. Modify surroundings!

Relapses can be sparked by individuals and places, as well as by the activities you used to undertake. Even if it could be difficult, it’s time to suspend or break up any connections that are focused solely on going out. Moreover, stay away from locations linked to drug use at all costs. A new setting can give rise to a fresh perspective and change breeds change.

Create new interests, as we mentioned before, but also make new friends. It can be useful in counteracting the early feelings of loneliness and shock that come with altering your surroundings. Embrace a sober community of like-minded individuals around you.

3. Avoid letting one slip turn into a relapse!

Complete denial of substance misuse is the ultimate aim of rehabilitation. But this is a challenging task, and no matter how hard you try, there’s always a chance that you can make a mistake because of a terrible day. Now is the time to recommit to your recovery rather than criticizing yourself and even using drugs or alcohol more.

This isn’t a justification for giving up. Even the finest of us experience it, though. Let your mistakes remind you of where you don’t want to be if and when you make mistakes. You may experience remorse and embarrassment after using it once more when the first high wears off. Use that energy to commit to sobriety.

4. Follow the Plan

During your recovery process, you want to create a sobriety strategy to assist you in overcoming obstacles. Some people like a loose mental blueprint, while others prefer precise day planners. Nevertheless, make sure to follow your plan whether you’ve been sober for one, two, three, or maybe even seven months. Make sure you give yourself rewards when you reach your goals.

5. Never forget to say what’s in your mind

Gain the ability to talk to the right people or even yourself. It’s important to record what you do, think, and feel. I’m alright, that won’t do. Unresolved or unreviewed feelings lead to undesirable behaviors that eventually lead to relapse. Invite safe and seasoned individuals to join you to grow your support system. Your feelings will initially appear strong and overwhelming.

6. Take help from professionals or rehabs

Using a wide range of success-fostering tactics is the best course of action for your alcohol or drug abuse recovery. Never forget to take care of your child, look for supportive connections, and think about getting help from a therapist. You can always choose to go to Renaissance Recovery for treatments if you are having difficulties related to getting sober or staying sober.

7. Keep track of your financial conditions

You might have experienced financial difficulties if you engaged in your addiction for a while.  One of the main causes of relapse is financial difficulties, but you can take little action to organize your finances. Other key triggers include difficulties getting and maintaining a job. Just remember that it won’t happen overnight that you improve.

Conclusion

Remaining sober can be achieved by any method, as there is no right or wrong method. Simply maintain your sobriety. If you are ever tempted to return, remind yourself of the suffering your substance of choice has brought you. If you’re on the verge of relapsing, consider the suffering you may have caused your loved ones.

Although it can take a lifetime to recover, the effort is well worth it. In recovery, you’ll appreciate life far more than while you’re high or using drugs.

Welcome to Beautiful Moms

Hi! I’m Juliann, a wife to my wonderful husband, Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I first started Beautiful Moms Blog in 2008, my goal was to connect with and support other moms who were in the thick of raising young children. It became a creative outlet where I could share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with companies that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It’s so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. I have always believed that every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she’s in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms Blog has grown and evolved right along with me. Today, my children are adults, and I have embraced the blessings of being a grandma. My passion for encouraging women hasn’t changed—it has simply expanded to include every season of motherhood, from pregnancy and the newborn years to raising teenagers, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

I’m excited to have my daughter, Myelie, as a contributor to Beautiful Moms. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood. She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a home wherever life takes you.

Together, we’re here to support women through every age and stage of motherhood—from pregnancy to menopause—with helpful advice, honest product recommendations, beauty and wellness tips, and plenty of encouragement along the way.

We are PR Friendly and love working with great companies!
