Ways To Treat Yourself

June 20, 2020 by Juliann

Sometimes life gets hard. We all feel tired, overwhelmed, rushed off our feet, and we all need a treat to make us feel better. A gift or a treat can do wonders to make us feel happier, make us smile, and make us realize that there is plenty of good happening all around us, even if we are extremely busy. The bad times will pass and that’s something to look forward to, but in the meantime a treat will make those bad times seem better.

Sometimes that means treating ourselves. Rather than waiting and assuming that someone else is going to do it for us, it’s time to take control and, if we think we deserve a nice treat, get it for ourselves. If it’s time for you to do just that, here are some ways that you can make a start and make sure you are treated in the way you’re meant to be.

Breakfast In Bed

Breakfast in bed is so delightfully decadent, even if you do have to make it for yourself. If you are able to grab some alone time when your partner and kids are elsewhere, you can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast in bed in complete peace and quiet, and it certainly will be a treat.

To make it extra special, put some of your favorite music on in the background as you eat, and take time to read a newspaper, or an online version of one. As for the food, that definitely needs to be out of the ordinary – for example, avocado on sourdough bread with juice in a champagne flute would be just perfect.

Buy Yourself An Item That You Don’t Need

The idea of buying yourself a particular isn’t perhaps the most exciting one—you probably do it all the time because you need items for the house, the kids need equipment for school, or one of your belongings broke and you need to replace it. That’s not very interesting. However, think back to the last time you bought yourself an item that you don’t actually need but that you truly want. This may have been a long time ago, and therefore it is much more of a treat.

If you’re worried about cost, you can use deals and Newegg Black Friday coupons you find online to reduce the cost. Once you know your budget, you can start searching for items that you would never normally buy. It might be clothing, a new book, a piece of art, or even an adventure day out for the future.

Give Yourself Flowers

It’s great to have flowers in your home. They smell lovely, they look beautiful, and they certainly brighten the entire place up. Why not buy yourself some gorgeous blooms in your favorite colors and place them in your home? They will certainly be a treat, and you will look forward to seeing them when you wake up or come home from work. You could even buy yourself a new vase to display them in, and treat yourself twice.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
