Happy New Year! A new year is a fresh start, right? It is an opportunity for a new beginning. Maybe I can wipe my slate clean and start over…..and re-set my New Year's goals from last year. Hopefully I will accomplish them THIS year. I still need to lose a pound or two. I still need to get rich! I still need to get my youngest to stop breastfeeding! I mean, he IS five years old! Okay, please try to guess which one of my previous statements that I was only joking about.
Anyway, I DO have many, many countless things that I hope I can cross of my to-do list! To make it simple as it can be in my 'hectic' life, I will share with you something that I am trying out which will hopefully keep me motivated.
Each day I will do these 3 things if nothing else:
1. Do at least ONE deep cleaning chore in the house.
This does not take the place of my daily jobs, such as dishes and laundry. No. A deep clean involves scrubbing a floor, sanitizing a bathroom or vacuuming under couch cushions. If I challenge myself to do at least ONE of those chores each day, then after a week, generally the house will be clean and you will not be overwhelmed with housework. I started this before Christmas, and by Christmas, my house was looking pretty nice.
2. Do at least ONE physical excercise each day.
This can be easy. I know I need easy, because I am terrible at excercising. You can challenge yourself to running in place for ten minutes each day. You can do 20 push-ups. You can do 20 sit-ups. Just start with one of these excercises and work your way up. Do one each day. After a week. you will at least have done your body some good and burned off a few calories. I usually do leg lifts in bed to help conquer my mid-section. That doesn't work for everyone, but hey, it is a start!
3. Read something uplifting each day.
Read a passage out of your bible, or even a few paragraphs. Ponder the meaning and think about how it may apply to your personal life. Or just read a spiritually uplifting story from a book that relays positive messages. I like to read at least one article out of a LDS magazine called The Ensign that my sweet Dad has susbscribed me to. Some stories seem to be tailored just to me. Reading those gives me the spiritual strength I need each day.
I know these 3 tasks may be trivial to most of you ladies, but I truly need to get started somewhere. I hope I can become motivated to do a lot more in the new year. I want to turn my blog into something much more than it ever was, as I share more personal experiences instead of just product reviews.
I hope that 2012 will top every year we have ever had!!!!!
Happy 2012 to you!
