Megan Massacre star of “NY Ink” and “America’s Worst Tattoos.” Megan is one of the world’s great tattoo artists and with more than a million Facebook followers, Megan is poised to be a breakout star, transcending the tattoo world and crossing over into fashion and beauty.

With tattoos becoming ever more popular, tattoo artists must innovate in their craft more and more to call attention to themselves. A December 2013 Pew Research study estimates annual spending on tattoos at $1.65 billion with 45 million, 14%, of all Americans having one or more tattoos. Advances in tattoo technology means that artists are less and less limited by the technology and are more and more able to display their true artistic talent on the skin of their clients. Megan Massacre is one such artist. Best known from two seasons of “America’s Worst Tattoos” and one of “NY Ink,” both on TLC, Megan has built a reputation as one of the most innovative and creative talents working in the business and her tattoos are truly works of art. Gone are the days of Sailor Jerry and drunken nights of picking a tiger off the wall of a shop, and here are the days of intricate shading, minute detail and vibrant colors. Megan’s work regularly makes you exclaim “I had no idea you could do that with a tattoo!” and we think she belongs firmly in the discussion of America’s best young artists—with fashion and beauty credentials to boot. Who’s to say that artists can’t use a living canvas? It’s time to shine a light on the talent it takes to be a top tier tattoo artist and Megan is the perfect example.
