Top 4 Skincare Tips for Moms

November 15, 2019 by Juliann

Being a mom is a full time and often thankless job, which leaves you with very little time for you to take care and look after yourself. It can be difficult to even go to the bathroom on your own when you have small children, so the idea of following a full skincare routine can seem impossible. However, taking care of your skin is important, and no matter how full on being a mom can be, you need to make the time wherever possible for yourself. Therefore, we have put together our top 4 skincare tips for moms, that provide you with manageable ways to take care of your skin and take care of yourself.

Never Sleep in Your Make Up

Many of us commit the ultimate skincare sin by going to sleep at night with a full face of makeup, but even if it is the only part of a skincare routine you follow, you MUST remove all your make up. Sleeping in your make up ages your skin 7 times faster, so if you want to keep hold of your youthful looks, then cleanse your face before you go to sleep.

Keep it Simple

There would be little point in establishing a long and complex skincare routine for you to follow, as with the daily pressures of being a mom, you wouldn’t be able to keep up with it. Therefore, you should select your skincare products carefully and just do the basics wherever possible. If you want a simple skincare routine, then you should focus on cleansing at least twice a day in order to keep your skin clean. If you can then add a toner and moisturiser to your routine, then you will see a further improvement in the appearance and feel of your skin.

Use Masks

Using a face mask a few times a week is a great way to look after your skin without having to do much. You can easily put on a face mask during the evenings when your children are in bed while spending some time relaxing. You can get face masks that suit your skin concerns, and natural face masks are great to detoxify the skin and treat impurities. Using a mask containing chemical ingredients will cause the opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve, so you are better off choosing a mask that uses botanicals. You can find a great selection of natural face masks at sites like Osmosis.

Always Use SPF

It is important that you protect your skin from the sun as this can damage and age your skin. For a quick SPF fix, you should use a tinted moisturiser or BB cream that will be both a form of protection, as well as light coverage to give your skin a boost and make it look fresh. As a mom, you will likely have little time to get ready in the morning, so using a multi-use product is a great way to look after your skin quickly but effectively.

Looking after your skin doesn’t have to be a long and complicated process, but by making small changes and using the time that you do have to take care of you and your skin, you will see a huge improvement.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
