What Does Your Birthstone Say About You

November 26, 2019 by Juliann Leave a Comment

In astrology, the month in which you were born denotes particular traits and virtues about who you are as a person, and how you behave in certain conditions. Sometimes these can be spot on and capture your personality perfectly, although it is thought to be mostly speculatory. Sometimes these predictions can be very far off, however many people do believe that astrology does contain a lot of truth.

Shining Bright

Much like the star signs, the months of the year are also allocated a specific precious gemstone that carries meaning and myth about the people who are born in that month. They are called birthstones.

If you’re interested in learning more about birthstones, one of the best places to start is by getting to know horoscope signs. Each sign has its own birthstone, and understanding the meaning behind these stones can help you choose the right one for yourself or for a loved one. For example, Aries is associated with the ruby, which symbolizes strength and courage. If you know someone who was born under this sign, a ruby could be the perfect gift. Similarly, Taurus is associated with the emerald, which represents fertility and growth. If you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate a new baby or a special anniversary, an emerald would be an ideal choice. Ultimately, getting to know horoscope signs can give you a better understanding of birthstones and their meanings.

Birthstone jewelry can make for wonderful gifts with a personalized touch. If you are looking for something special to gift this holiday season, then you can find birthstone collections from online jewelers such as Fjewellery.co.uk.

Have a look below and see whether you share any personality traits with your birthstone.

– January – Garnet

Traditionally, garnets are thought of as a deep red stone however their appearance can range from light pink to olive green. According to legend, they are said to be the symbol of everlasting friendship so they might just be the most perfect gift for a friend born in January.

– February – Amethyst

Originally favored by royalty due to their stunning violet hues, the amethyst has always been a coveted gemstone. Being a member of the quartz family means they are used in spiritual healing and are said to possess peaceful and stable qualities.

– March – Aquamarine

Referred to as ‘the Sailor’s gem’ by the Greeks and the Romans, Aquamarine was said to provide safe passage across rough seas. It is also said to be the symbol of happiness and eternal youth.

– April – Diamond

The name ‘diamond’ is derived from the Greek for ‘invincible’ and symbolizes everlasting love.

– May – Emerald

Revered by the ancient Egyptians, emeralds are associated with patience and rebirth. Emeralds have a tendency to never be perfect, flawless emeralds are almost impossible to come by.

– June – Pearl

Symbolizing purity and innocence with its natural soft color and shape, the pearl is the traditional birthstone for June.

– July – Ruby

Said to ward off evil spirits, the deep red of the ruby is shrouded in myth. The ruby is a contrast in itself, the red is a sign of both danger and love.

– August – Periodot

A symbol of power and influence, this lime green stone is supposed to ward of negative emotions. In Hawaii, periodot is said to represent the tears of the goddess of fire, Pele.

– September – Sapphire

No longer is sapphire just a blue stone, like garnet, this stone comes in a variety of colors from sunshine yellow to baby pink. It has long been associated with loyalty, honesty and trust.

– October – Opal

Known as the unlucky gem due to an unfortunate rumor spread by diamond dealers, the opal is said to have healing powers and calming vibes – quite the contrary.

– November – Topaz

Ancient Egyptians revered this gem for its strength and power.

– December – Tanzanite

A stone with ties to friendship and generosity, tanzanite is a rare gemstone and is only found in one place, Tanzania – unsurprisingly.
