How to Go On a Vacation With Kids and Have a Fun Time

July 11, 2022 by Juliann

Vacationing with kids can sometimes turn into a stressful period rather than a fun time. No matter how much planning and discussion you had with your children about being well-behaved and decent during the trip, they end up proving that they’re kids, and you barely get a sigh of relief.

But guess what? With smart planning and tricks, you can enjoy vacationing with your kids without having to worry about their mischievous adventurousness. Read on to know how.

Be Smart With Your Travel Time

Choosing a time when your kids’ energy is at its peak is a decision you’ll most likely regret later. Instead, choose to leave at nap or rest times when your kids are likely to sleep and would not create chaos during your traveling time.

Whether you’ve to catch a flight or go by your own vehicle, it’s wiser to pick timings in tune with your family’s natural rhythm. This will ensure a nice and peaceful traveling time.

Ditch Hotels and Go for Rented Homes

Though expensive hotel rooms offer a luxurious feel, what’s the point when you have to whisper with your partner once your kids go to sleep? A better option is to book rented homes that give you the home vibes and offer you other resources like a pool or a hot tub.

Besides, you can also have your local friends or family members come over to have fun and spare the couple some privacy by looking after the kids.

On the other hand, if you want to simply relax and have a luxurious holiday, you can consider booking one of the luxury villas.

Be Thoughtful While Picking Spots to Roam

When vacationing with kids, the key is to take them to sites where they can have the most fun. If you are in California and your kids enjoy the sea view or aquatic animals, you can go for long beach whale watching or any lakeside with a stunning view. If you are a family who loves camping and hiking, have fun exploring a new campsite.

The goal is to go to a place where everyone will be happy so that it’s a less whining or frustrating experience and more of a memorable time with your loved ones.

Have Other Family Members or Friends With You

If you think your kids are too mischievous to handle and let you have personal time with your partner or even with yourself, taking your friends or family members along is not a bad idea. Not only will it help you guys have a lot of fun, but it will also allow you to enjoy your personal time vacationing with yourself. It’s better if you pick your family members for the trip as they will be more understanding, unlike your friends who might get irritated after a while.

Be Patient and Relax

While you may have already assumed that this will be the same sort of vacation you had a year ago with your kids, it’s time you change your perspective and approach things differently. You can either complain about missing those happening cocktail parties and long nights of drinking, or you can realize how grateful you are to spend this precious time with your family members.

So, that’s how easy it is to go on a vacation with your kids and actually have a fun and relaxing time.

About This Blog

Juliann, founder of Beautiful Moms

Welcome to Beautiful Moms!

Hi! I'm Juliann, wife of 33 years to Jon, a mom to four amazing children, and a proud grandma to five precious little ones. I live in Oregon.

When I started Beautiful Moms in 2008, my goal was to connect with other moms who were also raising young children. It became a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts on motherhood, review products I loved, and work with brands that help make family life a little easier.

More importantly, I wanted moms to feel seen. It's so easy to lose ourselves in the demands of caring for everyone else and forget that our own well-being matters, too. Every mom deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and appreciated, no matter what stage of motherhood she's in.

Over the years, Beautiful Moms has evolved right along with me. My children are now all grown up, and I'm blessed to be a grandma.

Life changes so quickly

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for encouraging other moms—it's simply expanded to include every season of motherhood—from pregnancy and baby's first years to raising teens, becoming an empty nester, navigating healthy aging, and everything in between.

Myelie, contributor at Beautiful Moms

I'm excited to have my daughter, Myelie, join the Beautiful Moms team as a new contributor. As the mom of a newborn and a busy toddler, she brings a fresh perspective on modern motherhood.

She lives in Alabama with her military husband, so she also understands the unique challenges of military life, frequent moves, and building a happy home wherever life takes you.
