Boy, life has been busy from a motherhood point of view. I didn’t really feel well this pastweek, but I managed the best I could. My husband, Jon went on his final salmon fishing trip of the season at the Deschutes and was gone Friday and Saturday. Fine and dandy, but I had to take my son and his new little girlfriend on their ‘first date.’
I am actually glad that my year old son isn’t driving yet, because that would just be another worry for me. He isn’t pushing the issue (about getting his license) and so as parents, neither are we. So, for Jonathan’s first date, he wanted to take his girl to the movies and hang out at the mall. Living out here in Estacada, however, means the nearest mall is 30 miles away. The movie they wanted to see was at 8pm and of course I didn’t want to hang out at the mall for all those hours waiting for them, so I actually drove them to the mall at 5 pm and picked them up at 10pm. Lots of miles on the car, because I went back home to wait.
In a perfect world I would have stayed at the mall and shopped until I dropped, or leisurely browsed with my daughters. But, my toddler is a little demon who throws the world’s most gigantic tantrums and I was already worn out…..plus no money to spend. That would not have been fun at all.
