Oh, my how time flies! My baby boy, well, the one who is a sixteen year old aspiring musician…….(Jonathan) HE has his first girlfriend. He asked her out at school yesterday. The neat thing about it is that he came to us, his mom and dad, to ask us permission if he could ask this girlie out.. We were very proud of him for coming to us. He said hewas afraid at first of what we might say, but he was happy that we were ‘cool’ about it. He knows that we trust him. We have had conversations about sex…..NOT having sex before marriage, and he’s cool with that.
I am very proud of my my boy. He is very mature for his age. It is just very new to me, I mean, I have never been the mom of a teenage son before:)
Update: The girl turned out to be a nightmare who became obsessed with my son. She attended a youth group slumber party with my daughters and told everyone there that she was bi-sexual. (While there is nothing wrong with being bi-sexual, it just wasn’t the appropriate time or place to be announcing that, especially at a church youth group of very sheltered young girls who had most likely never heard of such a term.)
Jonathan is now 30 years old and married to the love of his life. A young lady who he had a major crush on in middle school. He finally got the courage to ask her out at the age of 17, and they were married in 2017 and have a beautiful five year-old daughter. Life goes by in the blink of an eye. It really does.
