On Saturday, my family and I (along with my in-laws) ventured on out to Roloff Farms. You know the Roloff family from TV, "Little People, Big World?" Yeah, those Roloffs. They have a great big pumpkin patch. I had never been there before and did not actually expect to meet any Roloffs. I just went along with my family with no expectations, except to go to a pumpkin patch. (The Roloff Farms is 35 miles from my home.) Anyway, when we arrived, there was Amy Roloff (the mother of the bunch) who was posing for pictures with fans. I am not really a fan, but I met her and sat with my girls for a picture with her.
We also spotted Zach, one of the twins, the one with the dwarfism. He was driving one of the 'tour' tractors. We went on the tour and I enjoyed seeing the Roloff's huge house and their yard, which included a Basketball court with a , shortened basketball hoop for Zach, a volleyball pit for their normal-height daughter Molly. Molly's dad, you know, the famous Matt Roloff, had built his children a pirate ship play structure, a princess-worthy castle…..all much larger than life itself. And there was a really cool Western Town that the 'tour tractor' stops at so everyone can explore. The Roloff grandparents were there to greet fans. We posed for pictures, even though I honestly did not recognize who they were, but they were so sweet anyway. I am not certain what their names are.
We spotted and chatted with the Roloff's youngest child, Jacob, who was helping 'tourists' disembark from the tour rides. He is either very shy or doesn't like people talking to him, which is fine if he gets sick of 'fame.' He's only a kid. He's a cutie.
And then, we saw Matt Roloff all over the farm, but he did not stay in place for more than a second. He was driving people on 'private tours' in a Gator cart. Matt Roloff is a business man, not really a people person, or so I have heard.
The other two Roloff kids, Molly and Jeremy (the taller twin) were not there. (Jeremy was at college and Molly at volleyball.)
Anyway, besides the 'excitement' of the Roloff family being there, I thought the whole pumpkin patch was very cool. All of my children, from oldest to youngest enjoyed themselves. Little Braxton loved the huge bouncy slide, jumping off haystacks and the little 'spooky house.'
My teenagers loved 'star spotting.' And, the prices were not too high for pumpkins, food, parking or admission. And, there were surprisingly no long lines.
